Coulter Bagged by Media Matters

right... because you SUPPORT this particular boycott. You do not like how those individuals and businesses exercised their free speech and thus do not have a problem with people boycotting them.

that was my first thought as well. It's not so much principled based as it is issued based.

If that's a sign that you're losing an argument, then what is "oh yeah? What about media matters and Coulter? Gotcha..."

Its a direct comparison to the situation Lorax. You have a group trying to get a person booted off a media outlet due to what she stated while exercising her free speech.

It is the exact same situation. You just like one and hate the other and thus refuse to see how hypocritical you are being.

Well, clearly, there are many on this thread who have a very difficult time differentiating between personal choice, and an organized boycott.

No, that's not really what I'm referring to.

So individuals do not have the right to organize against a person or business that they disagree with?

Fuck off. I said before that I didn't support the Coulter boycott, but you conveniently missed it.

You close your ears to everything you don't want to hear. You're an idiot.

I think you have to differentiate between someone expressing dislike or disagreement , and between someone who is advocating for people's murder.

In fact, the law already does differentiate. I really think you are glossing over what could be considered, and very rationally so, attempts to incite both mass violence, and, violence against a particular individual(s).

You are doing that because Coulter the thing is on the right, and you will defend the right for anything they do.

Well, it always has!

What planet do you even live on dude?

Hey, speaking of which I am going to DC for the big March 21st anti-occupation A.N.S.W.E.R march. So anyone who says that the left just hated bush but would support these war policies under a democrat, can eat shit now! I'm also going to be going to a big party of anti war activists at Poets and Busboys, if you are in the area I'd love it if you dropped by. :p

LOL.... I never accused anyone from the anti Iraq camp of being so simply because they didn't like Bush. More power to ya.

As for DC... I avoid the stench of that city as much as possible. Occasionaly I will go to Georgetown to watch Marquette take on the Hoyas. But that is it.

Too bad, I know they'd love to meet you.

What's that Water always says? Reductio absurdum?

Boy you are an expert SF.

except that is exactly what he is saying. He has said multiple times that he supports and individual deciding to boycott individually, but he doesn't support a group doing so. Try reading comprehension classes.

Wrong... I will defend the rights of people regardless of their positions to exercise their free speech. Wright had every right to say what he did, despite the fact that I disagree with him. Coulter has a right to say what she wants as well. So do the Dixie Chicks. But none of them are impervious to adverse reactions by those that disagree with them.

Trying to say that 'well, what she said was worse' does not change any part of my position on the rights of those that disagree to take action.... either individually or as a group.

LMAO... sorry, you said you 'supported individuals but not organized boycotts' unless of course you approved of the organized boycotts in which case they were ok.

Fuck off, you idiotic loser. First, you called me a "hypocrite," when I have stated clearly TWICE that I do NOT support the Coulter boycott. Then, I have written lord knows how many times that people have a right to boycott, and that I'm not suggesting it should be illegal, but I just find them stupid & un-American when they're regarding an opinion, so yeah, on an emotional level, I don't support those boycotts. But I'm not saying they "don't have the right."

I guess that's probably a distinction that a stupid, knee-jerk peabrain wouldn't comprehend. I'll try to dumb it down for you next time.

Easy on the rage emo boy....

There is nothing un-American about a boycott, no matter how many times you try to suggest there is. While you are entitled to your opinion on the matter, you could not be more wrong on that point.

Bullshit. It's un-American to try to get someone to shut up through intimidation. There is no other way to slice it.

You & I simply disagree on what America is supposed to represent.

And fuck off, you insanely stupid hack....

But a boycott is not intimidation. To boycott is to abstain from, by it's very definition (and it holds out in practical use) it can never be a form of intimidation.
It's a tool in a free market to coerce those involved to change.
