US-backed raid killed 49 Yemeni civilians, officials said


Following a military operation in Yemen targeting suspected al Qa'eda militants, a local official said on Sunday that 49 civilians, among them 23 children and 17 women, were killed in air strikes which he said were carried out "indiscriminately," Agence France Presse reported.

Earlier it had been reported by ABC News that on orders from the US President Barack Obama, the US military had launched cruise missiles in the attacks.

The National said that thousands of people took to the streets of southern Yemen on Saturday to denounce the military action and ensuing deaths of innocent civilians.

"According to local sources, about 3,000 people in Dhal'e province and hundreds in Lahj and Abyan provinces condemned the military operation. Angry protesters shouted anti-government slogans and demanded an investigation into the attack."
 
I just wonder what happened to... diplomacy... having the support of the international community... finding peaceful solutions that don't include us killing innocent civilians... invading sovereign countries... making sure our intelligence is accurate... not sending the 'wrong message' to the Arab Street by acting like Imperialists? Did Obama's State Department even think to bring this up to the UN for consideration? Nope... they just barged into a sovereign nation, unprovoked, with no imminent threat to national security, and killed innocent Yemeni's!

I think because they represent authority and fight for American freedom and liberty, which is a threat and counter to European Socialism. Military people are not free thinkers, they tend to follow the orders of their leader, and not consider the plight of the less fortunate... plus they wear that yucky green color.... Oh wait, I thought you were asking why YOU hate them so much!

Yeah, I can read, it just didn't make any sense why you'd be asking ME that question. It's YOUR president whom YOU elected, firing missiles off into a sovereign country who did nothing to provoke attack! I guess you couldn't explain that one away so easily, so you had to try and divert the conversation again, but is that the best thing you could think of? To question my love for the troops? Strange!!

Why wouldn't it make sense that I would ask YOU that question, of all people?

Don't you remember telling people that everyone that Bush was THEIR President, too, and by not supporting his foreign policy decisions, they were not just hating America, but hating the troops, as well?

I was just applying your own "logic" to your "new" position...

I don't see you speaking out against it anywhere on this board... this happened over the weekend, you've had plenty of time to weigh in, but you haven't. I am the first one to mention it here. So do you want to go on record now as condemning President Obama for taking this reckless military action against a sovereign nation? Okay, I will allow you to!

Well, generally speaking, condemnation and renouncement indicate an unwillingness to support politically.... but you being the two-faced liberal hypocrite, it doesn't surprise me that you would overlook your own 'condemnation and renouncement' to vote for your party! In other words, your "condemnation and renouncement" mean absolutely SQUAT!
