Russia attacked Ukraine. Ending the war is easy. Putin should drop his weapons and go home. The war would end immediately. Putin wants land from Ukraine and they will build military bases on it to subjugate the Ukrainians.

Russia attacked Ukraine.

No, Russia started a military operation in Ukraine to defend Ukrainians in the Donbass region from its own government and to help ensure Russia security by preventing Ukraine from joining NATO. That this is what Russia wanted was clear from the fact that Ukraine -almost- signed a peace deal with Russia within the first few weeks wherein all Ukraine had to do was stop waging war on the Donbass region and promise to never join NATO. Alas, the west persuaded Ukraine to "keep fighting" and, to quote a line from a good film, also put into a song, "You get what we have here".
