Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

Alternative facts. If you start with a false premise, you can prove anything, and that's exactly what they do.

True. OTOH, if a person never takes a stand but only makes "suggestions" or "asks questions" then they have deniability.

IMHO it may be a lot of trump inspired openings, but not all have anything to do w/ him..

Santa Cruz Calif is a liberal bastion if ever there was one & many beaches are open, for the same crazy ass type of rec being blasted in the south east/Fla..

Hello Concart,

Here's another idea. Keep the beaches closed. Problem solved. See how easy that was? Given that you are a card carrying Trump Cultist, your opinion of my intellect could not possibly be less relevant.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. I suspect this will result in increased numbers in Jacksonville, but I wonder if we will be able to tell. I would not have wanted to be the one to make the call, but it has been done so now we have a giant lab experiment going on. I began posting the numbers in Jacksonville shortly after this began so we have a searchable record right here in this thread. Time will tell.

I wonder just how many people in Jacksonville actually go to the beach (probably a rather small percentage of the population,) and if increased transmission rates can be attributed to this move. Of course, the ones who go to the beach will inevitably interface with others who didn't.

The numbers have been rising steadily for Jacksonville over the last week, which is early to attribute to the limited beach opening. Another week or two and we will know more. I am not a fan of testing possibly lethal ideas on the general public, but it is done, so maybe we can learn something from it.

Hey, if it works out OK and the results are inconclusive maybe more beaches can be safely opened up with similar restrictions. People do need outlets get out and away from the confines of home bound life. One sad aspect of sheltering in place is increased domestic violence.

One thing is for sure. I would not be among those throngs flocking to that beach! No way I want to be in ANY crowds these days...

well there you go..thinking once again you understand something you clearly do not

My mind is not in a turmoil, I and not seething in anger - i am not pounding the keyboard with snarling fists.
I am using my logic and knowledge to create posts of worth on a topic..same as it ever was

goddamn you cling to stupidity, and post silly ad homs as well

When you you want to open up ?
it's never going to be 100% without risk.

Where is a good place to open up now?
at the beach or on outdoors with social distancing of course.

I'ts much much safer to walk on the beach or swim then go to a store or pharmacy -or anyplace inside
That's why beaches opened a week or so ago

When they start selling groceries on the white sand out there at Jax Beach, I'll head right on down. Calling you a member of a cult is an accurate description, not an ad hom. You on the other hand appear to be angry. Expletives and personal insults appear to be about 100% of your game. Take a walk. Maybe hit the beach with the rest of the cult. It's a beautiful day here in Jax.

So, JFC, moron and goddamn stupid are just a regular part of the Buddhist vernacular. I must have missed that part.

I'm working online, posting to you and LMAO @ your flailing attempts to somehow find a way to make a point
a beach is a dangerous proposition :palm: no need to advise me what to do.

Do Catholics curse? do they take the Lord's name in vain? does that diminish their religion? It's a ridiculous point you are attempting to make once again

You tried an ad hom, it was specious to begin with, and yet you decide to double down on it -just like you did with the dangers of going to a beach. Move on.

false premise. I mentioned about the religion of peace you claimed about Buddhism.

Buddhism should guide you to inner peace, so there is that - I can debate and still remain mentally calm
and still call out stupidity.
I suggest you get a better grasp of the Path if you are going to engage in discussion
Sweetie, you do not represent Buddhist Warriors; you represent a bully wearing who calls herself a "Buddhist Warrior".

Keep working on it, dear. Here, try reading a book on it: https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/r...sacred-path-of-the-warrior-by-chogyam-trungpa

Yes, and it makes them hypocritical and/or poor Christians. Thanks for the whataboutism example.

I live there. The beaches are the center of social activities in this town. The entire stretch from Ponte Vedra to Neptune is packed on the weekends. This is a photo of the beach right after it opened last Friday. It's very typical. There is a lot of concern here, because of our proximity to Georgia and the fact that our beaches have reopened.

Also, here is a picture from a couple of weeks ago before the county south of Jacksonville had closed their beaches. It speaks for itself.

I don't think I'm that interested in becoming part of an infection study.

Don't forget to run to your churches tomorrow

Mayor Lenny Curry reopened beaches and parks in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, after Governor Ron DeSantis gave the green light for them to reopen, despite the state hitting a record number of coronavirus cases. When they opened at 5 p.m., crowds flooded the area, ignoring social distancing warnings.

Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach are now open from 6-11 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. for "essential activities." They are closed during all other times.

More than 25,000 people in Florida have been infected with COVID-19, and schools, business and public events are all closed or canceled to try to slow its spread, according to the state Department of Health.

Strawman. I believe it is too soon to open the beaches, and it's unnecessary. That does not imply in any way shape or form that they should never reopen. That's just silly. Methinks thou dost protest too much. You are definitely pounding the keyboard.

where did you here that? Do you know about Buddhist warriors? The task is to stay on the Noble Path

Are you confessing you are not a "Buddhist Warrior" or is this just more of your schoolyard bully routine?

Your posts indicate turmoil and anger. Calm, serene, logical, centered people do not scream insults at others.

Thanks, I've taken your suggestion to move on under advisement. Hold on, the results are in!! Rejected. Any other requests of yours I should consider and immediately reject?

Smart. Ya wouldn't catch ME out there. The numbers don't lie. We shall see how this works out. I seriously hope it is actually OK.

Thought I heard that Georgia never closed their beaches.

Hey, now you could go up to Georgia if you're jonesing for a restaurant meal. Hope ya like fried food... I'm not sure if anything is cooked by any other method there.

My wife is from Georgia, and the whole family is still there. Makes for interesting family gatherings. I don't say much, but my wife is not a wallflower. It's educational though, you get the unvarnished truth from them. Being a transplant from north, the food takes a lot of getting used to. On the plus side, all the restaruarnts here are offering pickup/delivery, and we've had some great meals at a great price. We do that twice a week.
