Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had a stern warning Tuesday for Cubans and Haitians thinking of escaping the ongoing unrest in both countries by sailing to the US: Don’t even think about it.

“The time is never right to attempt migration by sea,” Mayorkas said during a news conference. “To those who risk their lives doing so, this risk is not worth taking. Allow me to be clear: If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States.”

Mayorkas, whose own family fled Cuba for the United States following Fidel Castro’s rise to power, added that any would-be refugees intercepted by the Coast Guard or any other law enforcement agency would be returned to their country of origin. Those who could provide what Mayorkas called a “well-founded fear of persecution or torture” would be referred to other countries for resettlement.

“They will not enter the United States,” the DHS secretary added.

So Biden literally invites all of central America to the US - but Cubans trying to escape real political persecution will be returned?? or sent to other countries?

What is your point? Are you now encouraging dangerous and illegal immigration?

So Biden literally invites all of central America to the US - but Cubans trying to escape real political persecution will be returned?? or sent to other countries?

He can’t legally refuse entry to people who are fleeing actual persecution can he?

Same thing?
Yet, different treatment. Why?

Somehow I don't think the drug cartels treat people well.

And I find it funny that people have a change of heart about dangerous and illegal immigration.

Anyway here:

At an event on Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas discouraged migrants from traveling unlawfully by sea to the United States. After pledging support for the people of Haiti and Cuba, in light of political turmoil in both countries, Mayorkas said, “If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States.”

Video Transcript
ALEJANDRO MAYORKAS: We are committed to supporting the Haitian government as it seeks justice in this case. And we affirm the United States support for the people of Haiti. We also stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and their calls for freedom from the repression and economic suffering that Cuba's authoritarian regime is causing.

DHS is working with our partners to support the Haitian and Cuban people. The Coast Guard, along with our state, local, and federal partners, are monitoring any activity that may indicate increases in unsafe and irregular maritime migration in the Florida Straits. Including unpermitted vessel departures from Florida to Cuba.

The time is never right to attempt migration by sea. To those who risk their lives doing so, this risk is not worth taking. Allow me to be clear. If you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States. Homeland Security Task Force-- Southeast headed by the Coast Guard's 7th District Command is responsible for the DHS response to a maritime migration. This task force has been in place for more than 18 years. And it exists to prevent and respond to maritime migration in the Caribbean.

Im not sure. there is the "wet foot dry foot" that Obama ended, but there is the 1966 The Cuban Adjustment Act.

It's horribly fucked up that Biden lets economic migrants from Central America literally in the USA
( many times without even a notice to appear)
but will not let Cubans in

I saw footage of the Cuban government arresting journalist on the streets. Political persecution is REAL in Cuba

People stuck in communist countries deserve our support. Last night lots of Cubans were outside with their Trump flags plus
American & Cuban flags down on calle ocho.
