Dano Prediction, mark it down, Dems will be the most unaccountable party in power

If the Democrats win in 2008, they will be the most unaccountable party in the history of the nation. I predict that virtually everything they do, anything they do controversial or that warrants any criticism, they will just use the Iraq war as a comparison.

Example:
Dem Critic - Wow, the Democrats have spent like crazy on healthcare, is there any end?
Democrat - Yeah, because that was much worse than what you spent on the Iraq war.

They will milk that motherfucker for all it's worth. And note that I am not defending the war, but for fucks sakes it costs about 3% of the budget every year and on top of that like all wars it will end, hardly some nation breaker.

You can thank this administration for setting the stage. Power only increases with each term, and this admin essentially raped the constitution and exponentially opened up the door for more and more spending and more and more secrecy, and more and more executive privelege. Even if a Republican wins by some freak miracle next year, he would do exactly the same thing if he had congress.

In a nutshell. We're fucked if we do, and fucked if we don't. Thanks W.

Also, wars kill people. Peolpe die, lose arms, legs, eyes, hearing.... It tears families apart, and it begets more war. The financial cost of the war is substantial, but the human toll cannot be put into terms of cost.

I would rather have ludicrous spending than a war, and you know as well as anyone that I detest both.

Yeah, and you motherfuckers deserve it.

I'm reminded of a commercial I saw once where some guy who went out to buy himself something frivolous and the wife decided that she should therefore be entitled to go out and buy a whole new furniture set.

"Your punishment for guns is butter" - Watermark logic

I would think if a Dem were prez we would be at war anyway, Clinton/Gore admin bombed Iraq over Monica, and they did Kosovo, They would have easily done Iraq given the same political mood of 2002 AND there would have been a much smaller anti-war movement.

The party YOU have supported, Dano, has given us year after year of deficit spending, as WELL as year after year of "supplemental" war spending.

You're a fucking joke.

You have some fucking nerve trying to claim fiscal responsibility. The populace gave you and your ilk several years of unrestricted power, and you and your ilk acted like a teen with daddy's credit card.

Fuck off.

It's the strangest thing. When elections come, Republicans are suddenly staunch fiscal conservatives. The day after the election begins a different story though.

"They would have easily done Iraq given the same political mood of 2002 "

The board joke strikes again.

Stop with this. It's embarassing.

they have to provide totally free healthcare and maybe a car for each person to top GW in Iraq.

Um no

The Iraq war comes in at about $80 billion a year.

Liberal Welfare State:
Medicaid - $329 billion
http://www.economist.com/World/na/displayStory.cfm?story_id=4424740

Medicare: another $327 billion

SS: $625 billion (over half a trillion!)
http://www.federalbudget.com/

Those are the big 3. Then you have an ungodly amount spent on other Liberal social welfare programs like Food Stamps, social services, etc...

Bottom line, the Iraq war is $80 billion a year and the Liberal welfare state is WELL over a trillion each year, MORE than 12 times as much.

Dano, the wars have cost over 500 billion so far and they have been going on how long ? 50 billion a year ???

Bush just requested another 196 billion ....

I thought it was 223 Billion that he just requested. Either way, it costs far more than 80 Billion a year.

Dano - why do you feel the need to lie & exaggerate to make your arguments?

If they stood on their own, the truth should suffice.

In May the Senate approved 120 Billion, now he is asking for some 196 Billion. Currently, the cost of the war is $8,000 for every man, woman, and child currently a citizen of the US. All of this is being paid for by loans, the cost is only getting higher.

To contrast this.

In order to pay back the entire national debt the cost is $30K for every man, woman, and child currently a citizen of the US. That is a big bill, Dano.

Well said.

This dude should go stand in front of a mirror and take a long look into the face of stupid.

Thre is ZERO question that the administration he supports will go down as the worst in American history.

First of all, Dano, Social Security shouldn't have been in your little rant on spending, as it doesn't come from The General Fund. It is a specifically SEPARATE entity.

Second, all of the welfare related things you put forth are rolled into "Health and Human Services", which is the biggest expense in The General Fund, followed by Defense, and then "Department of Treasury" (mostly interest paid ON the federal debt)

The one thing you SHOULD be screaming about is how much we pay to service that debt. We get absolutely nothing for that money.

Bush and his Republican lackeys leave us this, as part of their ridiculous "legacy"

Total Public Debt Outstanding
2001: 5,806,151,389,190.21
2007: 9,062,552,400,356.63

Does anyone remember the fight over what to do with a budget surplus left over from Clinton's last year in office? Democrats fought to use it to PAY DOWN THE FEDERAL DEBT.

Republicans argued "GIVE IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE".

The fact is, NEITHER actually happened. The whole tax rebate was a scam. Those who got one had to deduct it from the following year's tax return. So, the debt wasn't paid down, the people weren't reimbursed, AND the money STILL disappeared.

Gotta love Republican run government.
