Lenin and the Boksheviks "loved" liberals so much that they executed a violent coup to overthrow a liberal-democratic socialist coalition provisional government. They were so keen to make "common cause" with liberals and democratic socialists, they arrested and executed them when the democratic left parties trounced the Bolsheviks in the elections to the constituent assembly.
Boy, those Bolsheviks really considered democratic liberals and socialists their buddies and soul mates!

I actually think Lenin hated liberals as much as the tsarist regime, because he perceived that liberals and democratic socialists would actually give Russians a viable alternative to the totalitarian Bolsheviks.
