That's not what I said. Consolidating a base that is loyal to an individual instead of the country, is what Hitler did, and is a common trait of dictators. Elected officials are supposed to put the country first at all times. However, the Nazi Party swore loyalty to Hitler, not Germany. This was even shown in the propaganda film "Triumph of the Will" where Rudolf Hess says "Germany is Hitler" in an effort to also get the German people to have blind allegiance to Hitler. To criticize Hitler was to criticize Germany and thus be a traitor.
The same thing has happened now with the Republicans having blind loyalty to Trump at the expense of America. And Trump condemns anyone who criticizes him as being against America, in an effort to get people to see him as being the embodiment of America, like Hitler did with Germany.
