It also violates DOMA, current US law, and one of the longest standing traditions in this country. It's not your place as a degenerate to change the laws, traditions, and religious standing of marriage just to fit your piece of shit agenda. The sanctity of marriage? How in the hell does it do that? How does allowing gay marriage have any effect on your marriage or my marriage or anyone else's?

Current US law is wrong. So, like we have done in the past when we see that a law is unconstitutional, we will change that law.

And the whole "long standing tradition" is pure garbage. First of all, you are using the Logical Fallacy of Appeal to Tradition. Second of all, basing our lives on what was done in the past ignores the concept of improvement and progress.

As for the religious standing part, that has no bearing on the law. We are not a theocracy. If churches want to maintain a straights-only marriage policy, that is fine. But the licences and the +/- 1,400 benefits given to married couples by federal, state and local gov'ts will be shared with all consenting adult. Its coming, so you may as well start getting used to the idea.

Total nonsense. Gay marriage is just that...and it doesn't take anything away one way or another from heterosexuals...are you all so weak?? This argument is ridiculous and based on some religious beliefs...not even all christians agree with you...get over it. The point is that it's unconstitutional. Don't like it? Well it will go up through the courts...assuming Obama can fill the positions (not that the right wing fanatics want him to)...and our Opus Dei Supreme Court can flaunt it's religious beliefs and impose that religion on the entire country...on it's face it's unconstitutional and I went to the trouble to explain why early on in this thread. No where did I imply or say that calling names or being a racist should be illegal or criminal...believe what you want but you can't legislate it without contradicting the bill of rights.

It's kind of funny the way the tactics are all the same, on every board. There's always the guy/girl who craves attention but since s/he cannot engage in a meaningful way, for whatever reason, they just filibuster the shit out of the discussion with insufferably-boring obtuseness...hey, I guess any attention, even negative attention, is better than nothing for the desperate types. :(
