The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has released June figures that show the deficit's growth slowing.

You remember the deficit.

That's the issue that Republicans started fixating on when their Birther strategy crashed.

According to CBO, the deficit in June was $45 billion, $23 billion less than the shortfall recorded a year ago.

CBO says that's because spending was less in June 2011 than it was in June 2010.

I wonder why the newly-minted spending haters aren't mentioning this.

Could it be that -

A. They really don't care about deficits, except as a political football;

or

B. They can't think of a way to take credit for it

Which doesn't change that we are still growing debt at an unprecedented rate. I remember when it was "crazy" when Bush was overspending by 400 Billion. I never thought I would miss his spendthrift insanity.

LOL I love it. The republicans take a large chunk of power in congress (who, BTW, actually does the spending, the president merely signs off on it) and THEN projected deficit spending goes down by the slightest margins with democrats fighting it tooth and nail every step of the way, and we're supposed to give OBAMA and his useless cronies credit for it? I'm starting to grasp that some of you mindless liberal twits are actually that stupid. But do you think everyone has gotten the requisite prefrontal lobotomy it takes to be a die-hard liberal?
