Democrat L.A. Mayor Karen Bass in Africa as Her City Burns

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spent Tuesday in Africa as part of a taxpayer-funded delegation attending the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s president. The Democrat was there as her city battled wildfires and thousands of residents fled for their lives.

There is literally 0 reasons for a city mayor to be attending a foreign presidential inauguration
Your article says the fire broke out on Tuesday morning, and she was already in Africa then.

Fires sure seem to happen pretty regularly in LA...

Man, it's good she wasn't in Mexico during an unprecedented ice storm ... I seem to recall that some folks regarded that as an unforgivable dereliction of duty, or something. :whome:

That the mayor was in Africa as fire stuck she could not have anticipated, but the fact remains she took time out of her duties for a trip that does not do anything for the people of LA because of her history with Africa as a CongressCritter.

That's okay. I'll take your word for it.

Too late.

Yes, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass did cut the Los Angeles Fire Department's (LAFD) budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. According to multiple reports, the LAFD's budget was reduced by approximately $17.6 million from the previous fiscal year's allocation of $837,191,237 to $819,637,423.

Initially, Bass proposed a cut of nearly $23 million, but the final approved budget saw a slightly smaller reduction.

Wildfire preparedness strategies are crucial for minimizing the impact of wildfires on communities, properties, and the environment.

This includes removing dead leaves, pine needles, and branches. Extend this zone to 100 feet or more in areas with significant wildfire risk.
