Daniel Carrera Sikkema, the estranged "husband" of gallery owner Brent Sikkema, allegedly paid $5,000 to have him stabbed to death in his Rio de Janeiro apartment amid a bitter divorce.
The hired hitman, Alejandro Triana Prevez, confessed after being arrested, telling police he stabbed Sikkema 18 times after Carrera gave him a key to the home.
Carrera, a former male escort, stood to inherit Sikkema’s multimillion-dollar estate.
Now facing federal murder-for-hire and conspiracy charges, Carrera could spend life in prison—or face the death penalty.
