If you want to know where American jobs went, follow corporations and people like Ivanka and Daffy who have their manufacturing to 3rd world countries and China. But Trump says we are at full employment and we should allow some illegals in to fill jobs that cannot be filled now.

There are lots of low-wage/low-skill Americans being put out of work by Third World Labor. Naturally, you and your Elite friends live in Ivory Towers and can't or won't realize this. As you sit there in your Gated Communities, who does the yard maintenance, who is the Cook, the Butler, the Maid, the Chauffer, the Pool Boy? Who is the Construction Crew that is tearing down your two-car Garage and replacing it with a 4 car Garage? Yes, yes, yes, ... all work no American wants to do ... you tell yourself.

I don't tell myself anything like that. It is a Republican/corporate meme. The Dems and left believe workers should get more money and better security. What party is against raising the Min. wage? You do know that much don't you. Who is it that hires those illegal workers? Could be employers, which are , in theory, mostly Repubs. Trump gave a huge tax cut to the wealthy and is working on another one. Only 85 percent went to the rich, who do not need it. You figure out what party wants to gut Social Security, welfare, foodstamps, workers rights, min wage, and Medicare and then get back .How can you be so utterly wrong?

The point that Trump was making was to encourage hate of immigrants so it could be used to gain popularity with the low intelligence mutts he babbles at. It was never an honest attempt to stop immigrants who are needed to make US industry and agriculture viable. A border wall? Really? It's obviously not built and it won't be. But the idea is easy to promote in small minds who are capable of imagining it!

The immigrant hate Trump has promoted has likely saved his ass from a much bigger defeat at the polls. The way it worked is an indication of the lack of intelligence amongst his support.

The downside of all this is that it strengthens the Democrats who are not the answer either.

The House’s alternative position could be, 8% increase every Labor Day until the rate achieves 125% of its February 1968 purchasing power, but the rate’s additionally annually updates reflecting changes in the CPI-U will begin prior to the New Year’s day following the enactment day of the Bill.

I hope the Democratic negotiators would be polite and respectful beyond civility, but FIRM! they should not acquiesce or attempt to placate to the opposition. Democrats should be fully prepared to leave the negotiating table and permit the differences to be resolved by the 2020 general elections.

I think it would be a good idea to introduce and pass some meaningful legislation in the House, but I would not expect the Senate to even take it up, much less produce a watered down version which could then be negotiated. Simply passing something in the House will give voters something to think about in 2020. Especially if their own wages are impossibly low.

I'd also like to see the Democrats debate a minimum hours law aimed at corporate social responsibility. Corporations need to give most workers full time work or reimburse the taxpayers if their workers are on taxpayer assistance. (The government dole is taxpayer-funded.) Some corporations have workers strung out on-call much of the time which prevents them from working other jobs to remain available to be called in. That is being exploited and needs regulation. Perhaps a minimum wage for being on-call...

It's amazing how much wealth is on the coasts where the liberals live yet its Republicans who run all the companies and hire all the people? So how do these rich liberals make their money then if they aren't running companies?

That is probably an additional factor that he uses to gather Votes. He's a Professional Salesman, he knows exactly what he is doing. (I believe Hitler got ELECTED ... so keep THAT in mind)
