Irrelevant. You are still trying to compare a special election against a general election. The "former rep" elections that you are trying to compare this special election to were also general elections.

Special election, midterm election, neither of them are national elections, and your “point” that if it were a national election, one with Trump heading the ticket, would have changed the outcome is moot given that previous GOP Representatives from that district won with the same twenty plus margin in both national and non national elections, the GOP base didn’t relocate for this election

The GOP knew it wouldn't even be close so the turnout was low. Off year off date and right after holiday travel time and middle of Christmas shopping season. Hard to get excited when you know you are going to annihilate them.
 
GOP won with half of their victory rate a year ago.

That's in line with the Democrat victories of the last two months.

The GOP is clearly weakening.
