Democrats Vs Beer: Massive 1,900% tax increase on beer

I think grandmothers was another one of them.

Big screens, beer, grandmothers.

I call bullshit, I don't remember ever saying Liberals are against grandmothers and I think in tallying this up in your mind you are combining the lists of what I said Liberals are against with what I said Liberals are partially responsible for. Neither list is huge but both constantly growing.

Orygun beer sucks anyway. Weak wimpy stuff.

States rights, if Orygun wants to tax it's beer it is their right.

You will note... they put the tax on BEER... not wine or hard alcohol....

They didn't put a tax on anything. And from what I've read, this is unlikely to pass.

I could fill this board with outrageous initiatives presented by infinitesimely small groups of Republicans or Democrats that have little hope of passing.

the POINT... is that they are ATTEMPTING (there, do you feel better now) to put the tax on BEER rather than wine or hard alcohol. Which do you think is consumed more by the average worker? Which do you think the politicians drink the least of?

The point is not whether or not it has a 'chance of passing' it is the fact that they would even attempt this.

But why did you say that they "put a tax on beer" when no one did that? Because, in your mind, average workers drink microbrews and craft beers while politicians do not?

Your ideas are intriguing to me. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

In their proposal they did indeed put the tax on beer. They are attempting to get the bill passed into law. There... now get your panties out of a bunch.

There is a reason there is the term "Joe Six-Pack" and not "Joe Handle" or "Joe Wine bottle". It is not just in my mind you moron. Yes, the lower a persons income the more likely they are to drink beer over wine or hard alcohol as it is typically cheaper.

Now please... continue to attempt to find reasons to change the subject. The point is that five Dems are trying to put an excessive tax on beer.

That's kinda dumb. Who am I apologizing for?

No one. This is a stupid initiative, but again, this is what Dano does. He tries to portray millions using the actions of a small few.

yes... and you and many on the left on this board did what with the toe tapper comments etc...

Hello pot... this is kettle.

I was simply returning the favor to you and everyone who continually proclaimed I was apologizing for Bush or the Republicans every time I disagreed with your positions.

OK. Thank you for pointing out your error.

You keep saying that certain things are typically cheaper, but how much cheaper is a six pack of craft beer or microbrews as compared to, say, a six pack from a standard commercial brewer? Jug of Gallo? Fifth of Rotgut?

This tax seems to be targeted at the liberal elitist beer snob types that prefer a beer that has taste.

In any event, it's not going to pass if the bill is as described in the article.

This is what I knew would happen. Dems take control in so many places and then start taxing the shit outta everything they can think of. and ALL of their supporters pretend like it is nothing. Who cares if they tax beer 1900%? Who cares if they work to remove all guns. Who cares if they run head long into nanny state-ism? The dems know what is good for us and we should go along quietly. A happy citizen is a compliant citizen.

Like I said, continue to try to spin this.... It is truly sad you continue to try and find ways to apologize for these Dems.

I'm not going to get bent over every little initiative I see. If it passes & becomes more widespread, I'll be more alarmed.

As it stands, the 1st major initiative by national Democrats was comprised of over 35% tax cuts & tax incentives.

You see, this is the typical horseshit that this type of article and the responses thereto generate. First, five democrats in Oregon have proposed this bill that may or may not increase the tax as alleged by the brewers' guild. Suddenly, "Dems" in general in "so many places start taxing the shit outta everything." Meanwhile, the article is about five Democrats that haven't taxed anything anywhere.

Then, "All of their supporters pretend like it is nothing" when (a) I don't know who these Oregon state reps and senator are let along support them, (b) I haven't really seen anyone supporting this move, and (c) IT IS NOTHING.

This is followed up by repeating something as fact that may or may not be true: that the beer tax is being increased by 1900%. Just because someone says something does not make it so.

And to top it off we get some emo shit about guns and nanny-statism.

It'd be funny if it weren't so fucking sad.

I'm not apologizing for anything. Just pointing out the truth of the matter while you defend the working man's right to a cheap six pack of Rogue beers.

Yes Dems in General didn't load the stimulus bill with condoms and grass and all sorts of other bullshit that has ZERO to do with stimulating the economy, but looked more like a retribution list for the last 8 years. Please please please don't tell me that the dems are going to be any more responsible than the Repubs were when they were in charge. For dems, it's payback time.

Who did you vote for again?
