Dems plan immediate climate action.

Hope it's worth it. All you warmers will be who I blame when your fantastical projections of warming fail and you tax everyone into the poorhouse fighting a windmill.

I wish this were true, but just as they converted to climate change from global warming when they realized that was easier to disprove, they now are preparing their lines of "Oh but it was worth it anyway to reduce foreign oil dependence and pollution", etc...

Any calls for repeal will be met with fearmongering lines accusing Conservatives of wanting more pollution.

All three issues can be shoved back in the liberals' faces by two words: nuclear power. I don't see them championing that obvious solution. Therefore their actual agenda must be something else entirely.

All these lies are to justify shutting down access to real actual viable fuels. The environmental concern is just to justify putting western economies on extinction mode, and the people living there along with them.

I don't get the wild enthusiasm for nukes. When the waste last well into our great, great, great (to the 10th power) grandchildren's lifetime, I just don't see it as a viable long-term solution.

What people still don't seem to get is how beneficial a real transition to domestic renewables will ultimately be for our economy.

For the record, I'm okay with more domestic drilling as we transition.

The enthusiasm is due to the fact that nuc power COULD ACTUALLY WORK. All this wind power and hybrid cars shit is bullshit.

I still can't see a problem with research and efforts to produce an alternative fuel.....whether it is in the name of "quelling global warming" or "reducing our dependence on foreign oil." I don't believe man's contribution to global warming is all that big of a deal but I do think that we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Either way, I see alternative fuel as a good thing. I am hoping the two sides can come to some sort of an agreement on it.

I am concerned that we'll see less of an effort than I think is needed in the area of alternative energy. The burden is eased at the pump for most folks right now so the aura of complacency is back.

I just read the nuclear power posts above. For the record, I am in favor of it. But don't stop there. Keep working on finding out some other ways to provide power.

If people were really serious, they wouldn't have a problem with nukes. What they really want is deprive western nations of needed energy.

I disagree with that. Nukes create a major problem for future generations You're wrong about the viability of wind, solar & the rest.

Hell we either waste money on securing future strategical oil resources via war.. or we can waste money in our country developing renewable energy.. what one has the brighter future.

Precisely Chap. I don't see the problem. Let's get with it. All areas used to become energy independent: Coal, Nuclear, Oil.........and renewable fuel resources. Use the others until we can get the price of the renewables down to where the common man can afford it.

Heck we can't even dispose of our fly ash from coal plants properly and have no plan to handle the nuke wastes.

Ohh well full speed ahead.

We'll find one. Unless the handwringers like you just dont want any real replacement, which is the actual case here.

the NIMBY fools rule.

Personally I think each state should be responsible for it's own nuke waste storge and it should be stored within 5 miles of their capitol.
Knowing politicians we could be sure it would be stored as safely as possible.

This niggling concern is no reason to can the whole project, the only one that could actually deliver.
