Dems plan immediate climate action.

Things like this and the debt are just Americas way of saying "screw the next generation".
As a nation we have ZERO personal responsibility.

i really do blame it on the boomers. this is there watch. they were irresponsibly hippies when they were young.. and as leaders they are selfish and dont do shit for this future generations.

The govt does nuke power better than the private sector does?

Ok lets have the navy build and operate our nuke power plants. They would of course do a good job of security and ensure that all personnel are well trained.
Those nuke plants are created by companies with contracts. Your argument is spurious.

SHoving it in your ass would be pleasant, and viable. :)

But seriously, I would be amenable to shooting it into deep space.

I know GREEN is supposed to be the next made up bubble of lies and you have your stock moves all planned out, but let me say from society in general, I hope you choke on your lies and greed.

Then you need to find a way to GET the waste into space. The fuel to send it in space would negate the benefits of nuclear power.

I want to understand your position... why is it that you think solar, wind etc... are not viable options?

Also, do not mistake my position. I think we should drill every oil and nat gas site in the country to eliminate as much as our foreign dependence as we can. Though I also believe that solar, wind etc... are going to be long term cleaner solutions that will eventually replace much of our fossil fuel needs. Additional green technologies will help reduce pollution from fossil fuels.

There are many solutions.... like you said in regards to nuclear... 'we will find a way'. If we can find a way to safely and economically dispose of nuclear waste, then I am all for nuclear power.

I don't get the wild enthusiasm for nukes. When the waste last well into our great, great, great (to the 10th power) grandchildren's lifetime, I just don't see it as a viable long-term solution.

What people still don't seem to get is how beneficial a real transition to domestic renewables will ultimately be for our economy.

For the record, I'm okay with more domestic drilling as we transition.
What you do get, however, is the wild enthusiasm to accept liberal dogma. The fact is that nuclear waste can be reprocessed with current technology to reduce it by something like 95%, and the remaining will be managed by careful storage, or perhaps reprocessed with future technology.

I question the 95% figure, and regardless, "careful storage" and "future technology" are vague & hardly reassuring.

No one has a clue. When it comes to future generations, I usually hear what you basically just said: "They'll be smart; they'll figure something out..."

That is interesting, do you have a link/source you could share so that I can read more on that?

But "green infrastructure" is a fully mapped out plan? Shut your hypocritical hole.

im against nuke power. its just to much of a target for humanity haters and the risk of accidents that ruin life as we know it are far greater then any other energy supply. One thing that would get me to move locations is if a nuke reactor opened up near by. I wont live near one.
You should do the math on petroleum then. How many trillions of dollars are spent to manage problems in the Mideast? If their product were worthless they wouldn't have the money to cause problems. What about the Exxon Valdez and other oil spill accidents? You must like to pollute the ocean and kill birds and seals. What about global warming? You must want to melt the ice caps and raise ocean levels.

Yeah future tech is really vague.

You ignore the fact that the small quantity actually stored can be managed with funds that are amortized, so it doesn't cost future generations anything, although it does give them high paying jobs.

Umm we did not have to invade Iraq over oil.

Ohh that is right it was over 911, no yellow cake and mushroom clouds..no wait Get Sadam or was it to bring democracy?

The recent fly ash spil released 4 x by volume the pollutants that the Exxon Valdez spill did.

do you know of an energy that is not at all 'harmful' to the environment?

Straw men and diversions will not prevent your defeat in this debate.

Solar panels cause global cooling.
solar panels convert solar energy to electrical energy and thus less solar energy warms the earth.
minute cooling effect, but a cooling effect.
