Dems to lose Senate.

First Lady Clinton played a roll more akin to that of Eleanor Roosevelt than that of Laura Bush or Michelle Obama. I don't see anything wrong with that, as long as the official documents contain his signature and his approval.

I don't find anything wrong with the President appointing his wife to run a taskforce on a policy area. Much like I don't find anything wrong with a president appointing someone to any other commission to study a policy area. Just because she is his wife should not preclude him from relying on her, especially if he knows and trusts her judgement.

Do you find something wrong with that?

Ok, then don't act surprised that she was treated and viewed differently than other First Ladies.

So I am supposed to divine who you are talking about dumbass? Why not just say Rand Paul; or is that too simple a task for a dishonest dumbass like you to accomplish?

Moron. What other doctor is being pushed by righties as an up-and-coming candidate for the presidency? Are you that clueless about potential GOP hopefuls?

And no, Ben Carson, whoever he is, doesn't count.

I haven't been following the conversation but if you asked me about a doctor the GOP is pushing my first thought would have been Ben Carson. Maybe it's just me but I don't really think of Rand Paul as a doctor.

What does it matter?

We discuss politics here, I am interested in your position?

Many did have a problem, and I think that problem was sexist.

I think out society has come a long way since then.

I consider you a reasonable person who is likely not sexist and if you have a problem with her roll, I am interested in what that is.

I lived in Alabama during the First Clinton presidential Campaign. Many people I knew and talked politics openly with were shocked by Hillary Clinton's comment about getting two for one. They felt a wife, especially a first lady, should be subservient to her Husband and that she clearly was not. They were offended in a personal way that could not be described other than to say they did not fell she gave proper deference to her Husband.

They felt a proper first lady should pick a cause everyone could agree with and work for it quietly, much like their wives who were in the Junior League. They did not like that she was a lawyer, they did not like that she had been a career woman. They did not like that she considered herself an intellectual equal to her Husband.

At the time, in Alabama that was very controversial. I heard many say that they would never vote for a man who could not even control his own wife.

I never said Democrats would celebrate any Republican winning.

Either you are missing the point; or deliberately being a dishonest dunce.

Why did Republicans hate First Lady Clinton so much?

You mean Republicans don’t like her now? You used past tense. And why do you claim they “hate” her. Are you arguing that if Republicans disagree with her positions and her lies they must therefore hate her? Where do you come up with such convoluted logic?

Most people do not like someone who lies to them. Of course if you are a Democrat; that is a qualification for public office.

Why do Libertarians and Liberals hate Bush so much?

So, are you admitting that being for legal marijuana is a liberal position?

It is a Liberal and a Libertarian position; is there a point here Counselor?

OMFG; anecdotal evidence!!!!

I never even heard of Ben Carson until I googled him for this thread. But Rand Paul and his background information have been in the news for several years now.

You aren’t interested in anyone else’s opinion who doesn’t already agree with you Counselor; why lie about it?

Many did have a problem, and I think that problem was sexist.

Anecdotal.

I think out society has come a long way since then.

Then why act like it hasn’t?

I consider you a reasonable person who is likely not sexist and if you have a problem with her roll, I am interested in what that is.

What roll would that be?

I don't care that she was involved. However by choosing to be involved she opened herself up to be critized/critiqued on her work far more than what would be normal.

I prefer a president who studied the Constitution, Government, and History to someone who studied medicine.

Carson has written several books that got a lot of press. He's been a speaker at PNAC before. He has built up quite th following in conservative circles and there was talk of people wanting him to run for President.

Excellent points. The whole "deference" and "controlling his wife" business galls me to this day. Also how people bashed Hil for her cookie-baking comment. Now I do believe she made some gaffes and misread how some people would take her remarks. But they blew it all out of proportion.

Either you’re a bad liar or have been living in a cave. Ben Carson made HUGE news when he presented the keynote address at the 61st Annual National Prayer Breakfast. It was on every news outlet; hard to have missed it. Not long after that he became the darling of the Republican Party and subject to much speculation by the leftist media whether he would be a Republican Candidate for President.

I think you must be lying and do not live in a cave.

I agree with that. Its one thing to dislike the position she took on Healthcare, its another to dislike that she took a position.

I'm going to give you credit for being smart enough to understand the difference between what Hillary did compared to other First Ladies. We are not talking about not supporting one's husband.

Does you wife write your law briefs? Does she argue instead of you in court? Do you clients have meetings with her instead of you?

Maybe Jarod's wife's a paralegal or a lawyer herself, in which case it would make perfect sense.
