Dems to pick up another Senate seat in Virginia: Warner is Running

The Washington Post is reporting that, as expected, hugely popular former Gov. Mark Warner (D-Virginia) is indeed going to announce tomorrow that he'll run for John Warner's seat in the senate next year.

Why can't he run in Mississippi? Cochran's not as bad as Lott, but still, I hate being in a double red state. Backwards Viginia now is even going to be a double-blue state... we're so far behind.

That gun-loving conservative Democratic representative (Gene Taylor?) could probably win a senate seat in Mississippi, couldn't he?

He'd have a tough time. He's only really popular in my district. And that only because the Republicans that run are absolutely crazy.

Our next senator is going to be Chip Pickering *pukes*.

Gene Taylor, however conservative he may be, is heaven compared to Trent Lott.

Heck, I'll take a conservative democrat from mississippi, who will at least vote for minimum wage changes, children's healthcare, and some minimal baseline of labor and wage protections. That's better than the alternative.

Move to San Francisco or even just the Bay Area. If you are in S.F. there is not an elected Republican politician in site. As far as the state goes Arnold is the only statewide elected Republican and we all know he would be considered a liberal Democrat in Mississippi. This is left-wing paradise. It's heaven on Earth.

Don't know anything about him, guess I gotta do some research!

Are you retarded? California sent 19 Republican Congressmen to Washington just last year. I hate oversimplification and generalities.

In my defense, we were discussing Senate seats and Congressional delegations. I read his comment as "Cept for Arnie, California doesn't have an elected Republican in sight."

Didn't see the statewide bit.

But yes you are completely correct.

Of course. The EASY solution to everything. Move somewhere else for mere political differences, the answer is never a fair voting system like Proportional representation.

Mississippi only sent two. I guess that means California's more conservative than Mississippi.

Too be fair, California's gerrymandered. If California used the congressional district method of apportionment, Bush would've gotten almost half the electoral votes. Under the proportional method, Bush gets like 35% of them. Kind of skewers the results, huh?

I've been called retarded before so it is quite possible.

I am quite aware California sent 19 Republican Congressmen to D.C. but if you check the map not one is from the nine county's that make up the Bay Area which is what I said. Richard Pombo from Tracy was the only one but he lost in '06.

I'm not sure how that is an oversimplification or generality, it is a fact. And it is a fact that there is not an elected Republican in the city of San Francisco.

And it is a fact that Arnold is the only statewide elected Republican.

I'll accept the retarded label but please tell me where I am wrong here.

Aren't Libertarians just absolute charmers? There is one good thing about them; they make Republicans seem like fun people.

DigitalDave is cool though. He has a sense of humor, and isn't wound tightly. Excellent indications that by the time he's 30 he will be a liberal.
