Many people (progressives) in California wanted her to step down. I’m glad she didn’t from a political perspective but ultimately it was her call. It’s not surprising in the least she didn’t. This is what she has known most of her life and she went out doing it. I see human nature at work and nothing nefarious.

It's a failure of one's duty to continue in a job that only serves to massage one's ego. RGB did the same thing as have other politicians who have stayed past their effectiveness date.

She should have been grooming her successor 20 years ago.

Pelosi wanted Schiff in her seat so she wanted her to stay till the end of her term. Now Newsom has promised a black woman for her seat. I'm thinking it's Oprah's if she wants it. Schiff will probably be the biggest mouner at Fienstien's funeral.

Feinstein was never going to step down and doing so wasn’t going to make her live longer. Newsom’s whole deal was he was going to appoint a placeholder which would have no affect on next years Senate race.

Sorry, there’s no conspiracy at play here.
