DId the Maine shooter have the right to bear an AR-15?

For the record, I believe rights can be limited if Due Process is first granted, but that means the right is not absolute.

I also believe that rights must be balanced when they conflict.

The right of self defense is absolute. No court can take that away. No oppressive government can take that away.

There is no right to murder.

That guy should have been held in a State Mental Hospital without access to any kind of weapons.

Government failed to keep him out of society, that's on them.

Before he went crazy he was allowed to have guns, the government turning him loose on society after him saying the things he did is their fault.

Also the things he DID while in the Army.

Who cares what you understand? What did he DO?

Yes unless you DO something to warrant having it suspended

No conditions. Remember the Democrats can 'warrant' just such a thing simply because you're a conservative. This is where he is going with his argument.

Several of the barrel strokers on this forum will tell you ‘yes’. They will also tell you that all the deaths from those firearms are acceptable collateral damage in order to possess that right.

Murder is not a right.
Your hoplophobia is YOUR problem. You cannot justify taking guns away.

Shoot back.

Why do mass shootings of this scale almost always involve semiautomatic assault rifles with high capacity ammunition mags, rather than shotguns, revolvers, bolt action hunting rifles?

A high capacity ammunition mag is a battlefield innovation, intended to inflict higher casually rates on the enemy. They have no legitimate civilian use.

It is unconstitutional to ban or limit any gun.

It’s mystifying that you’ve been schooled time and again that there is no such thing as an absolute right.

Yet, you do believe “vehicles cannot be necessary” in a modern society, too. So, there’s that demonstration of your cognitive abilities.

Self defense is an absolute right. It cannot be taken away, even by the most oppressive of governments.
Murder is not a right.
