Did the Media Care When Obama Fired General Mattis?

Defense secretaries come and go. President Obama had four of them in eight years, who had some unkind things to say about his leadership or lack of it. There was no talk of chaos or of the only adult in the room leaving.

Media spin on obama - everything he did was cool and legal and actively defended him on everything he did

media spin on Trump - everything he does or wants to do is illegal, evil and actively attacks everything he does

Ask the corporate state media machine?

Mattis wasn't secretary of defense. He was head of central command for 3 years.

He didn’t fire General Mattis, he removed from his position at Central Command, Mattis was still a General on Active Duty.
Obama did do it without even a phone call, which was controversial at the time, but Comey found out from a newscast and Tillerson got a text message so it’s difficult to fault Obama and not Trump on this.

And another Obama "whataboutism" from a right wing website isn't relevant

Nobody said he was SECDEF during Obama's Reign of Error, faux Saudi princess.

Obama fired him as CENTCOM without even the courtesy of a phone call. Liberals didn't care, did they, fraudster?

And Obama relieved him of command. Obama also had 4 SOD in his eight years. I do not recall a big stink over that.

I think Obama was trying to cool down the situation in Iraq ... Do you recall the kind of language he used when he spoke of Iraq or Libya or Egypt?

Actually I listened to Obama about as much as I listen to Trump. I just listen for keywords like war, nuclear, raising taxes, oh shit..you know, things I should pay better attention to.

And that seems to be the "issue" of the thread. If there wasn't a big enough stink, wtf were all the stink supporters at the time and why did the not get up and out the door on this? Sounds like they sat on their asses.

Obama fired General James Mattis without even calling the general to let him know he was being replaced.

Mattis was traveling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him -- he hadn't received a phone call or a heads-up.

Funny thing, anchovies, the links you posted have no content that supports any liberal outrage over Obama's firing of Mattis.

"Copy and paste" wrong once again, shocking;

"Ousting Marttis at this time, and in this way, seems wrong for several reasons:"

"TIMING: If Mattis leaves in March, as now appears likely, that means there will be a new person running CENTCOM just as the confrontation season with Iran begins to heat up again."

"CIVIL-MILITARY SIGNALS: The message the Obama Administration is sending, intentionally or not, is that it doesn’t like tough, smart, skeptical generals who speak candidly to their civilian superiors. In fact, that is exactly what it (and every administration) should want. Had we had more back in 2003, we might not have made the colossal mistake of invading Iraq."

"SERVICE RELATIONS: The Obamites might not recognize it, but they now have dissed the two Marine generals who are culture heroes in today’s Corps: Mattis and Anthony Zinni. The Marines have long memories. I know some who are still mad at the Navy for steaming away from the Marines left on Guadalcanal. Mattis made famous in Iraq the phrase, “No better friend, no worse enemy.” The Obama White House should keep that in mind."
