Did you all get your Amazon "Obscene profit Day" Prime Day stuff?

Cool! How long until it's on the road?
About another 10 months. Working on it with one of the grandkids. He's a gearhead and I told him the car is his when I pass.

Restorations take a while. I'm sure your grandson will appreciate it.

Cobra is all basic. Not even a glove box. No power steering or brakes (although Wilwood 4-wheel disc). But it works good!

An early Lotus makes a Cobra look complex. The Europa does have power brakes--split system with two slave cylinders just like in high end race cars of the period. But the bodywork? OMFG is it amateurish!

I've had to make many parts from scratch. The new dashboard is 1/8" 5052 H32 aluminum with 3/8" cherry wood bonded to it. Had it all CNC machined off a print I made. The original was 1/2" marine plywood with a laminated surface finish. I used a double coat of high end epoxy for a finish. Mine won't crack or delaminate and the aluminum provides a great ground bond for everything.

I added an .063 or .125 5052 aluminum firewall between the passenger compartment and engine bay behind it. The original was thin fiberglass over a fiberboard core. That was so pathetic! I had to do a repair to one side using 7 ply plywood and fiberglass over it. I figured the aluminum sheet would provide at least some resilience to that part of the vehicle. It also gives me an anchor point for the 4-point harnesses that replace the original seatbelts.

I'm switching the heating system to electric with a 400 W heater and two computer cooling fans rather than the bulky and heavy radiator core with complex plumbing of the original. Saves about ten pounds, maybe as much as 20 with the water in it. Still looking for a 12 VDC thermostat that can use a type J thermocouple for temperature control on that.

The story I heard was sales were down this year. It seems the economy is not doing well.
Quick google search:
"No, Amazon Prime Day was not a failure. It was a record-breaking sales event for Amazon, achieving its biggest sales day ever. Despite some reports of initial sales dips, Amazon announced that Prime Day 2025 was its most successful Prime Day to date, with record sales and more items sold during the four-day event than any previous Prime Day.
Here's why it's not considered a failure:
Record-breaking sales:
Amazon stated that Prime Day 2025 was its biggest Prime Day ever, with record sales and more items sold than any previous Prime Day.
Third-party seller success:
Third-party sellers also experienced their most successful sales day ever on Prime Day.
Sales surpassing previous events:
While some reports indicated a drop in sales on the first day, overall sales surpassed Cyber Monday, Black Friday, and previous Prime Day events, according to Lightspan Digital.
Customer loyalty:
Amazon's loyal customers continued to participate, demonstrating the strength of the Prime membership program and its impact on building customer attachment to Amazon, according to Lightspan Digital.
Industry-wide impact:
The broader e-commerce industry also saw significant sales increases during Prime Day, with some reports showing a 10% increase in online spending on the first day compared to a similar day last year, according to The Seattle Times.
While some initial reports focused on a sales drop on the first day, the overall results and Amazon's own statements indicate a highly successful Prime Day event. "
BTW...you inspired me...I bought a Ninja Foodi XLGrill :)

It seems you are more sarcasm incapable because it's supposed to be less serious, more obvious, and fun. Maybe watch some Here's Your Sign jokes from Bill Engvall for a starter course.
lol... I'm sorry you feel bad now.

Anyway. $9.6 Billion more than last year was the result of Prime Day this year...

You think Walt will apologize for "reporting" what he "heard" when it was so clearly misinformation?

Those are good numbers. I think they extended the Prime Day sale to four days. That probably helped those numbers. I bought mostly clothes, but I already had to return them due to being vastly undersized.

Why would I feel bad? I don't care about Amazon's profits either way. I'm also not the one shooting airballs on their attempts at sarcasm and humor.

So, now we know why you didn't bother to link us up to this story you "heard" after your leftigasm subsided... $24 Billion in sales reported by Amazon, $9.6 Billion more than last year...

It appears that your "sources" (your own wild imagination) were a "bit" off, ay?

Cooking the second batch of Chow Chow now. I canned 26 pints yesterday. This batch will be about the same. I may have to buy more jars.

Just a small victory, Walt is seldom right.
