Don't bother to engage with him in conversation. He is clearly ignorant of military training, etc. While some may have joined because college was out of reach any other way, the training they get in the military is some of the best and actually builds college credit (I got 27 credit hours of Russian from my first A-School and some 12 of political science credits from my second, made getting my degree easier and cheaper and well within reach), often putting solid college degrees within reach of veterans.
People like to look down on others, oddly this is the same type of person that would have said Trump showed the disdain for the veterans that he is actually showing, in this he is more like the Trump he believes exists than at any other moment in his life and he would just crap himself over it. I often hear this type of deliberate ignorance from folks who think they are "elite" and "far better" than those who served. It's all good, just ignore the elitist jackwipe, this is nothing worth holding a conversation with the stupid over.
