Disaster

LOL. Look who is backpeddling furiously.

Just so you know, the correct answer is that it was idiotic for you to bring up the local leaders in the way you did after my response. If we were having a discussion on overall blame, and I had someone insinuated that ONLY Bush was to blame, maybe you'd have a case. But you don't; you did your usual stomping around, where is the left routine.

I answered your question. I hold Presidents to a higher standard than Mayors; the why is fairly obvious, I think. What more do you need to know?

that is not answering anything, that is simply repeating your statement. thus, i can't only conclude that you are in fact minimizing nagin and blanco's fault and holding bush almost entirely to blame.

i didn't backpeddle a single thing. why do you have to lie in every thread with me?

it was correct to bring up the dem leaders, just as DIXIE did. but you're not whining about him bringing them up. nope....its just yurt. in order to understand why bush is the victim, you must necessarily talk about the dem leaders. to not do so ignores the WHY bush is the victim.

fucking moronic hack

Of course you can only conclude that. Because you can't read.

Of course you can only conclude that. Because you can't read.

what else can i conclude when you don't answer WHY you said it? you don't give a reason, you merely repeat your statement. there has to be a REASON you said that in response and now i know that what i said is true because you throw out the same tired "YOU CAN'T READ!!!!!!!" bs

no wonder you refuse to answer my question...much easier to spout your tired hack routine than answer tough questions

The difference is that the Japanese believe in personal responsibility and the people of New Orleans were overwhelmingly Democrats...

Whether they were 'overwhelmingly democrats' or not I cannot say. But one thing is certain. They were, like you, overwhelmingly American.

hiring brownie was not mistake? saying brownie is doing a heck of a job was not a mistake? the flyover picture was not a mistake?

Here is what I stated originally... read it again... you obviously missed a few points!

Here's where you and I have a fundamental disagreement in principle. As far as what presidents do regarding national disasters, Bush's response to Katrina went 'above and beyond' the norm. Could Bush have handled public relations better? (flyover pic) I think that is obviously clear... it was his Achilles Heel! Could Bush have appointed a better director of FEMA? (Brownie) Perhaps! Was Bush stupid to go into Iraq? Maybe... none of that has anything to do with what presidents do when there is a national disaster. In THAT regard, Bush did something unprecedented, no other president in the history of America had declared a national disaster BEFORE the actual disaster! NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE BUSH!

As you see, I admit that Bush could have appointed a better FEMA director and could have handled public relations better... but those have nothing to do with a presidential response to a disaster, and whether mistakes were made in that response. Bush did everything a president is supposed to do, AND MORE! But the mainstream media, on a mission for the left, decided to systemically destroy Bush in any way they could, and this was a prime opportunity to inflict damage. You are one of the ignorant proles who bought the rhetoric, and now... after the fact... when you are challenged to present a case for why you think Bush made mistakes... you can't really come up with anything.

not surprised onceler can not answer a simple question and explain why and give his reasons for stating presidents are held to a higher standard. what exactly does this mean onceler? i concluded that you mean it to be that bush is more responsible.

why is it you whine about others not answering your questions, yet you constantly refuse to answer tough questions that show your position is weak and that you've likely been dishonest?

i did miss that....why did you say this then:

Oh my goodness Yurt... I think I found a possible MISTAKE Bush made with Katrina!

that statement clearly indicates what you found was the ONLY possible mistake as it was in response to me saying bush made mistakes....

Seriously?

Presidents are held to a higher standard because the process they have to go through to get chosen & elected is infinitely more rigorous, they have MANY more lives that depend on their decision-making, they oversee the highest level of support, defense, administration & any other aspect of governance you can think of, their decisions can often affect an entire nation & even the world instead of a locality, and their position is generally one of much more nation, international & historical prominence than any local leader; among about 100 other reasons.

Is that really what you were looking for? Anyone who doesn't understand that Presidents are held to a higher standard is seriously braindead. I understand that you're trying to save face, but it's a seriously, painfully idiotic question.

Par for the course though, Yurtsie. Par for the course...

wow. so how is it you said that my conclusion is wrong because i can't read. its clear as day you hold bush more responsible for katrina than the local leaders because of your misguided view about standards.

your standards are pathetic are really nothing but a desperate spin to not appear as a partisan hack. presidents are not and should not be held to any higher standard than a governor, a mayor or any other elected official. we don't have kings in this country onceler. each person is held to the standard of their respective office. its truly mind boggling how you can come up with such a moronic concept in order to defend your hack views.

i guess we should shut down the states and let the president rule everyone and everything. afterall, he has the higher standards, governors should do nothing and simply wait for onceler's king to come around.

most idiotic idea ever floated. congrats onceler.

With regard to dealing with Katrina, that's the only "mistake" I've found that Bush made! You've not pointed one out... the fact that he made a lousy choice for director of FEMA, months before the hurricane hit, has nothing to do with his response to Katrina. The whole "flyover" thing was another hyped-up turdball from the mainstream media! Had Bush gone to New Orleans, the security detail and resources required for a presidential visit, would have been diverted from helping those in need. This was explained, but it apparently got drowned out by the incessant criticisms from the left. Do you really consider that a "mistake" in dealing with the disaster?

Such a predictable lack of reading comprehension.

Yeah, Yurtsie - that's exactly what I said.

What a waste of time. You're incredibly dense....

So basically, the Constitution shouldn't apply? It doesn't matter that the president has no state authority? He should just arbitrarily usurp authority from the governors when he feels like it, because he is more important? Is that what you are trying to tell us???

Such a predictable lack of reading comprehension.

Yeah, Yurtsie - that's exactly what I said.

What a waste of time. You're incredibly dense....

you've NEVER explained what you mean exactly. you just keep repeating the same mantra over and over. your answer clearly indicates what i GUESSED. its telling you can't actually explain WHY my guess is incorrect.

all you have is your typical onceler hack talk

YOU CAN'T READ!!!!!! YOU'RE STUPID!!!!!!

you're a fucking joke onceler. whenever you're backed into a corner, you lash out in a whiny petulant way instead of calmly and rationally explaining your reasons. it really shows that what i said really hit a nerve is very likely correct. if i am so dense, you should easily be able to show why, but you can't, because you're nothing but a sniveling human projector.

huh? just earlier you said i missed where you said those were mistakes, now you're claiming they aren't.

choosing the head of a NATIONAL EMERGENCY department who is incompetent is a mistake and directly related to katrina because it was an emergency that became national. the flyover was a mistake, period.

I gave you a very calm, detailed answer, with plenty of reasons. And you read is as "i guess we should shut down the states and let the president rule everyone and everything. afterall, he has the higher standards, governors should do nothing and simply wait for onceler's king to come around."

Because I think Presidents are held to a higher standard. That's "higher."

And you don't think that's a dense response? Probably because you're dense. In a big, big way.

what responsibilites does the governor and local government have onceler? they aren't held to a higher standard. and in DIRECT response to talking about the governor and mayor's responsibility the ONLY thing you said was that the president is held to a higher standard.

you've never explained what exactly this means. does this mean the governor of the state had less responsibility for katrina? does this mean the mayor has less responsibility for katrina? you're claimign that presidents are held to a higher standard, so what then are states responsible for????? you refuse to answer this question, why is that?

all you do is run around screaming that i'm dumb, i can't read, but what you can't do is rationally explain yourself. take a look in the mirror.

don't worry, i have a strong feeling you will never answer those questions i posed.

Damn straight. I answered you - gave detail, and reasons. And you either didn't read it, ignored it, or couldn't comprehend what you read (I'm betting on the last one). You must have read it, because you twisted it into your own extreme conclusion; what kind of idiot thinks that if one position is held to a higher standard than another, it makes the other position completely moot?

Yeah - damn straight I'll call you dense & stupid. If you don't want me to call you things like that, try thinking next time.

i knew you would chicken out and not answer a few simple questions:

does this mean the governor of the state had less responsibility for katrina? does this mean the mayor has less responsibility for katrina? you're claimign that presidents are held to a higher standard, so what then are states responsible for?????

man up you fucking crybaby. because your answer above did not answer those questions.

Presidents are held to a higher standard because the process they have to go through to get chosen & elected is infinitely more rigorous, they have MANY more lives that depend on their decision-making, they oversee the highest level of support, defense, administration & any other aspect of governance you can think of, their decisions can often affect an entire nation & even the world instead of a locality, and their position is generally one of much more nation, international & historical prominence than any local leader; among about 100 other reasons.

your ludicrious answer did not answer my questions and is nothing but explaining the JOB DUTIES of the president. it has nothing to do with standards you idiotic moron. but you have to spin away because you can't answer a simple question as to why you feel bush is more responsible than the governor or mayor, so you come up with this bullshit higher standard and then simply explain his job duties. it doesn't matter if he is king of the world, each person is held to the highest standards for their office, standards are not JOB DUTIES you imbecile. its hilarious you call me stupid when you don't even understand the difference between job duties and standards.

try telling a colonel in the military he is held to a lesser standard than a general. fucking idiot.

No I earlier said I acknowledged Bush had made some mistakes as president, he named a bad FEMA director, but that had nothing to do with his response to Katrina... that's where you were supposed to show me where he made a mistake... with Katrina, not with appointments to directorships. Why was the flyover a "mistake" ....did it cost someone their life or hamper rescue efforts? Could Bush on the ground in New Orleans, with his entourage of Secret Service and every available NOPD officer there, have saved someones life or made rescue efforts go better? The whole entire "flyover" nonsense was HYPERBOLE perpetrated by the far-left... I can't believe you are arguing with a left-wing idiot in this very thread, over this very sort of thing, but for some odd reason, you don't see that as being the case with the flyover!

what about bush saying brownie did a good job? we disagree on the flyover...fine...it really is an insignificant point...but brownie is a fairly large mistake. onceler is the board's biggest fool and partisan hack...he thinks katrina was bush's largest mistake....while he always neglects to talk about the dems unless called on it, then he pays false lip service to it.

today i was a bad mood due to being sick, so i felt like going around with him. but overall, its a fucking waste of time. he just goes in circles....you're right, he is an idiot
