Suppose all the liberals were to be taken out of the picture. They are either killed off by a selective genetic disease or driven away because they don't want to get the selective disease. No more liberals in the country. OK?

Sounds great, huh? Everybody who remains is a Trump supporter.

Wow. What a different country it would be. No more arguing. Nobody to hate. All gone. It would be fabulous.

That would be ideal for all true American Trump supporters, right? Nobody to oppose everything you want to do. Just think of it. No more opposition. No more arguing about dealing with climate change, stupid pandemic rules, no more abortions, no more gun laws. Everybody is forced to own a gun. No more elections. Just make Trump supreme ruler for life. And then Ivanka after Trump dies. Or DeSantis or Marjorie Taylor Greene. Maybe there should be elections after all to figure that out.

Drill, baby drill. Pump that oil. Dig that coal. Fire up all the idle coal plants. Let the smoke pour into the air. No big deal. It just blows away. What's the problem?

No more immigration. A huge border wall is built. The army is deployed to the border. Nobody enters. USA all the way! All of the Hispanics are run out of the country. Get rid of all the blacks, too. Heck. Why not? There would be no more liberals to object.

All the liberals would be gone.

Get rid of the Jews, too. Why not? It would be fabulous, right?

Sounds great, eh?

Well, maybe not.

Think it through.

That's half the population of the USA. Gone. Everything they did, all the jobs they worked empty, the work no longer done. All the taxes they paid would no longer get paid. The revenue of the Federal Government would be cut in half. But the bills would still be there. The country would still need defending. Roads and bridges need to be maintained. Still gotta run the FAA. We don't want planes running into each other or crashing. The armed forces would still have to get paid or they wouldn't continue working. Nobody is gonna work for nothing, right?

Every business that hired liberals would suddenly have job openings. Positions that would need to get filled, or the business would not be able to operate. Half of all jobs in the USA would suddenly not be getting done.

Things would grind to a halt.

The government would have to borrow a lot of money to keep up with the bills.

That couldn't work for very long without raising taxes A LOT on everyone who remained.

Would there be enough doctors and nurses to run the hospitals?

Would there be gasoline at the pumps?

Who is working at the gas stations? Are half of them gone?

Would there be food on the shelves of the local grocery store? Who is gonna work there?

Would the stores even be able to open up?

Would restaurants be able to stay open?
 
Do it in reverse with the other side completely eliminated and I'll happily live with the downside.
Recovery would be rapid, and we'd finally have a civilized nation.

No more Mexican food, that's for sure. Oh well. You can live without that.

How about the schools and daycare? Who is going to take care of the children while people are working?

Basically, the country would grind to a halt. The remaining people would be trying to do twice the work they normally do, trying to keep the lights on, trying to keep the energy grid functioning, trying to maintain order when people get desperate. Fights would break out. Police would be busy. Jails would fill up quickly. Oh, but wait a minute. No more liberal lawyers or judges. They are all gone, remember? Who is going to process that added workload?

It couldn't work.

The USA needs liberals.

You have to accept it and find a way to work together.

Sure. Liberals and Trump supporters have their differences. But it makes no sense to be hateful, mean and dysfunctional, poisoning any chance at rational conversation. That doesn't solve problems. It only creates them and perpetuates them. It is illogical.

A house divided will surely fall.

Logically, there needs to be rational dialog to address the many issues facing the nation. Everyone's concerns must be taken into consideration.

There has to be respect, dialog, and meaningful conversation or the USA is doomed.

All Trump all the time can never work.

You are going to have to learn how to compromise, and get along with liberals. Liberals are here to stay, so you have to find a way to make it work.

The country is gonna continue to go downhill until that happens.

And you can't wait for your friends to figure this out. They are not going to do that. YOU. You have to take the lead on this. You have to tell THEM why hatred can't work, why it is no solution.

It is inescapable logic.

Like it or not, somebody has to face up to it. If not you, then who?

And the same logic applies to hateful liberals who refuse to try to be rational with Trump supporters.

Hatred is not going to solve anything.

We have to be rational, people.

Face it. There is no way around it.

If you love America, this is what you must do for your country.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is reality. Now that you have heard it, you can't unhear it.

It's on you. You either face this responsibility or blow it off and hope somebody else does. Or the country is doomed. Your choice.

So you have to ask yourself. Do you love America? How much? Enough to save the country?

Leaving aside not everyone's world revolves around politics, not everyone is a (partisan) Democrat or Republican. Sadly, many people don't see that.

OK, so there is the mushy middle that won't commit either way.

And let's suppose that this liberal disease leaves the mushy middle in place.

Then perhaps only a third of the nation suddenly vanishes.

Still, the same problem remains.

The nation cannot operate with a third of the work force and a third of the tax payers suddenly out of the picture.

It would cause a drastic recession and likely a depression.

The USA would suddenly lose it's stellar credit rating and be unable to pay it's bills.
 
It's too bad people have been so mean, nasty and hateful here in the forum that I've had to place them on permanent Ignore.

I'd like to be able to conduct a meaningful conversation about this with ardent Trump supporters, but there don't seem to be any who can even conduct a dialog without spewing hatred.

And that's sad.

I had to laugh right after Trump got elected and his supporters thought it was a landslide, that this was what the whole nation wanted. And all that nonsense about the 'biggest inauguration.' What a sad false belief that was.

If Trump supporters were wrong about that, then they can certainly be wrong about other things.

Like thinking that hatred is going to solve anything.

Because it won't.

Misinterpreting my position isn't going to solve this problem.

Not everybody is in a party or takes a position. There is a mushy middle.

Why don't you want to get to the crux of this conversation?

Do you think hatred is the productive?

It is illogical to expect to have a 'happily ever after' nation built on hatred.

The Trump party is built on hatred.

You get the basic concept that hatred poisons dialog.

You're posts to me are polite. You don't devolve into insults when we disagree.

So why would you not appeal to the Trump party to rationalize with liberals?

Do you think the country can really be functional if it is dominated by hatred?

How can that realistically work?

Of course it can not.

I have often advocated for liberals to tone it down.

Have you done that with the Trump party?

You know the hatred makes conservatives look bad.
 
It takes all of us to run this country.

It can't work with either major political faction gone.

The obvious solution is that people need to grow up, stop acting like immature children, and conduct respectful dialog to address the issues of the nation.

That goes for the right and the left.

Extremism from either side is not going to work.

False premise. All "liberals" (aka Progressives / Leftists) disappear. What remains are mostly people who are not Trump supporters. The biggest block would be moderates and Independents.

Liberals in the sense of the Progressive Left make up less than 20% of the population. Democrats only represent about 35% of the population at most and a big chunk of that party are not Progressives on the Left.

So, "Liberals" could disappear tomorrow, and the country would shrug and move on.

Even if your unsupported numbers were actual, the country could not function if 20% of all workers and business owners vanished. The economy would go into recession because so much production would be interrupted. And the government would be facing a huge deficit due to lack of revenue.

The right can't simultaneously have the meme that liberals are elites without also acknowledging that they pay a lot of tax revenue, needed revenue to the federal government.

It is well known that tax money flows from blue states to the federal government and then onward to red states which are more on the receiving end of government assistance programs than blue states.
