Some leftists asks this question every couple of months. The answer is always the same. Gasoline/fuel is heavily regulated which adds significantly to the final price. A President can cut those regulations and ease the prices.

You do understand that the exporting countries do NOT pay tariffs that are as high as the ones Trump is putting on things don't you?
They may absorb some of them but 30/40 /50 /150 percent no way.
You can already see there are a LOT of companies that have to buy parts from overseas raising their prices and passing the tariffs on. GM/ Ford are just a few.
Raising their prices a MIN. of 1700 or more.
Walmart has already said they were raising prices up at least 10% across the board and higher on products that have higher tariffs.
And again REASONABLE tariffs work but the Tariffs Trump is putting on those 30/40/50/150 percent or more are NOT Reasonable.

You obviously cannot see that those companies don't have to buy from any particular single vendor, and will have many more domestic options once Trump's threat of tariffs bring companies to build in the US to avoid those tariffs. There is an entire world of commerce that you are not seeing.

Farmers crying they may have to go bankrupt because the price things the HAVE to buy have gone up and up because of Trumps tariffs.
People losing their jobs, two big auto companies are shutting down and moving out of the US.
Other big auto companies are having to raise their prices and that will slow sales and more auto workers will be laid off and more and NOT ALL of Trumps tariffs are in place yet.
Retailers shutting stores down and laying people off.
Truckers can't get loads because the supply chain has been interrupted and we aren't getting stuff in from other countries for them to transport.
Housing industry is being hit really hard by Trumps tariffs on wood, and other materials.
Companies that make washers,dryers and fridges are going to have to raise their prices over 50% and that will slow sales and some of those people may get laid off.
It has only started , we have almost two years before the midterms , just wait and see how bad people get hurt and decide " this isn't what I voted for" and leave the MAGA party.
