You really don't see it do you? Assuming automation steals all the jobs (which it won't), you still see capitalism as an inevitable, set in stone system that must be maintained and therefore you only see a UBI as the answer because you are being pawned into believing that is what is best. It is the best system for the current oligarchy and maintaining it under such circumstances would only perpetuate their control as the only end result of a UBI would be absolute communism.

I already answered the question--become whores and sheep farmers in in your fantasy world that will never happen.
 
I voted "no" because the poor just stay poor and their numbers are probably growing.

Liberals are great at shedding tears and pointing fingers, but they don't know shit about helping the disadvantaged become independent.

See, so someone (not you) WILL answer the Question.

Maybe (I'll run this past you) we can lock up all the 'Criminals' and put them in 'Prisons-for-Profit'. Investors could make solid Profits off this.
And ... hire College Graduates that can't find jobs and have a huge College Debt, for Prison Guards. That way, Investors that Loaned money to these people will be guaranteed a Return.

A Win-Win situation?

Just because you don't like my answer doesn't mean its not an answer. Prostitution has proven to be the oldest profession for a reason--it withstands the test of time.

I approve of the first line. Studies show that people are stuck in the social and economic status into which they were born.
 
People this poll isn't for rebubs to do the obvious, and bias no votes. Didn't you read? This isn't a game, and we already know the outcome. I want to see every liberal that votes yes, tell what they do to help the poor. The poll question was asking liberals, can't you tell by the wording. It didn't have enough spacing to add liberals only, to the poll question. Your no votes are meaningless here, especially if it's several troll accounts from Legionnaires Troll. If you vote, I get to call you a liberal.

I do not like to pat myself on the back, or advertise what I do to help people. Suffice it to say I could always do more, and do better.

The best we can hope for in the long run is equality of opportunity. Some people are always going to be more talented, more innately intelligent, more committed, more focused, and/or more charismatic, so there will always be stratified economic classes.
What we do not need is a society where simply being born with white skin, and being born male, or being born into wealth gives you a substantial and unfair head start on everyone else.

We already know that conservatives neither believe in democracy or equality of opportunity....so I leave it to the liberals, the socialists, the greens, and the progressive populists to sort it all out.

Just don't get it by stealing and using your wealth to take it from the rest of us. The Dems don't want everyone to get the same. They just don't want the powerless to be treated as the Repubs would like.

Are individual actions we take important or is it only how we vote that determines whether one cares or not? And what's the ultimate goal when dealing with the poor? When LBJ passed his great society programs he claimed at least they were intended to get people off the dole. So it the goal to just help comfort people while poor or to help them not be poor going forward?

They propped up a system that rewards unskilled labor in this country at the expense of the third world.

Liberals don't give a shit about the poor. That is why they insist the Government should do something about it instead of stepping up themselves.

Liberals emote a lot on the topic, but their actions never result in anything good. Turning citizens into dumb zombies dependent on Government handouts is not helping anyone.
