How can a true socialist society not be a dictatorship? If the government controls the means of production, controls a very broad cradle-to-grave social welfare state, and has essentially control over everyone's lives as a result, is that not a dictatorship?

Socialism is not dictatorship itself. Socialism is a form of economy based on theft. It can only be implemented by dictatorship or oligarchy (dictatorship by committee).

It is what the Democrats want, and have converted the SOTC into, the SOTNY into, and now the federal government.
