DO you agree with the president on meaningful background checks.

As a matter of public safety, and to keep AK-47s out of the hands of nutjobs, criminals, and terrorists, I do not see why anyone would be reluctant in the least to implement France's psychological testing rules for gun ownership.

Although I think I can guess the reason why some JPP conservatives are so reluctant and recalcitrant to this - there are some here who undoubtedly would not pass psychological screening to own military style assault rifles.

Bingo.

That sounds like a great idea.

I pretty much gave up on this country ever doing anything sensible about firearms regulations when we did not nothing after little kids and their teachers were massacred at Sandy Hook. Your "sacred right" to have a death-dealing dick substitute apparently outweighs their sacred right to life. The only time life is precious to you gunhumpers is when it's still in someone's uterus.

those that would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

Yea, that’s what I’m worried about. Passing the dumb little test. No. It’s the cost (that little bit about $300 a pop) and the time it takes to get the results. That’s the issue I have. The best way to curtail gun ownership in this country, the best way to make sure fewer people take up shooting as a hobby is to make it more expensive and time consuming. Pretty soon you have only the elite with guns...then you only have people who can afford to be members of shooting/hunting clubs. A $300 extra cost is prohibitive to most families I grew up with, including mine. Shoot, when I was growing up a $5 deer tag was something I had to save up for. I mowed yards and hauled hay for a whole summer to purchase my first 22 (5th grade). Same for my first 30/30 .... then the next summer for my lifetime hunting and fishing license. There’s no way I could have handled any extra cost. No, it’s not passing some psychological evaluation I’m concerned about. It’s the burden it would place on poorer folks, my relatives and neighbors than concerns me, that would cause them to have to break the law to participate in shooting sports like hunting or sporting clays (we have a good team of younguns at our school...compete for state every year) or would exclude them from it because of the cost.

It seems to me, Trumps supporters would generally disagree with what he is talking about regarding Gun Control, is it true?

What are your thoughts, do you agree with Trump?

I would need to know what he means, before agreeing, or disagreeing.

The NICS system certainly has its flaws. I don't see why it couldn't be fixed. As long as background checks don't violate any Constitutional protections, or privacy, and remain instant, I don't have a problem with them in theory. The thing is, they wouldn't do anything to stop mass shootings, so I'm not sure how "meaningful" they can be in that regard.

Don't count on anything Trump say, Trump has taken a position on gun control before, and backed out. It's all lip service.

Absolutely, Trump has already rewritten what supposedly were conservative republican principles, if he tells them to shit in the woods they would ask for how long

He will come out saying whatever is done is tremendous and all the lemmings will be believe him even if it directly contradicts a position they strongly professed three months ago

Bullshit, conservative Republicans disagree with the president all the time. I completely disagree with red flag laws. They are blatantly unconstitutional.

There is no "security" or "liberty" when you can't even go buy your kid back-to-school shit at Walmart and not be gunned down.

quit being a hyperventilating pathetic sheep. mass shootings are incredibly rare. they essentially approach zero. You very well can go to walmart and not be shot. More people die from the flu in a 48 hour period on any given day than the worst string of attacks we just had.

crap article. besides being 4 years old, how can anyone seriously claim that more guns make us less safe when all they want is more guns in the hands of government?

these idiots talk about the government putting people "in concentration camps" while at the same time desiring this same entity to have an entire monopoly on force. is that not pants-on-head retarded? It's conflating ideas like I just listed above that prove beyond a shadow of the doubt that liberals do not think, or rationalize, but instead are non thinking shells that simply receive their PC programing.

Stop being an idiot who cares more about his dick-substitute-bang-bang-stick than he does about human life.... unless, of course, that "life" is in some anonymous woman's uterus. Then we must take action to save it at all costs!

You're smarter than this, Grind. Maybe. Let's see if I'm right.

I believe this is the correct answer....

i do care about life. that is why I support absolute gun rights. the individual is the ultimate sovreign, and must be able to take ones will into their own hands if need be.

Surely there is nothing in the Second Amendment regarding age. It baffles me why the minimum age for ownership, especially military style weapons like the AR-15, shouldn't be raised to 25.
