Do you think many on the right even understand what the Founding Fathers did?

Nothing, really.

Since our country is linked through the internet, highways, and air travel, and since corporations are headquartered in one place yet have their operations everywhere, the idea of state autonomy is pretty fucking silly now.

It's clinging to tradition, which is pointless because there's no need to do that.

Unless people in Texas get a different kind of prostate cancer than people in Michigan...but as far as I know, prostate cancer is the same regardless of where you live.

we still need a state, yes, specifically to counter the internationalist fascism you seem to prefer.

a bezos/ gates/soros army providing world security isn't necessarily preferable.

some traditions are good ideas. those should be kept.

anarcho-capitalism is quite gay.

So, you are claiming the federal government can justify doing anything they want under the general welfare clause so long as it increases federal revenues and power?

you know, this is also applicable to dodgy ceos who justify bad behavior with their obligation to produce profits.

Taxes do not generate wealth

I never said they did.

Ask Greece about that...

Maybe we should ask the ECB about the loans they gave to Greece that required austerity only to see the Greek economy fall further into depression after the cuts.

Because Greece doesn't control its currency, it couldn't print more money and keep interest rates low to keep the economy moving...it had to turn to the ECB who lent to Greece but had counter-productive austerity cuts tied to it.

Austerity made the Greek economy even worse....so it is a lesson, but it's a lesson YOU should learn about the pitfalls and dangers of arbitrary austerity.

OK weirdo.

a bezos/ gates/soros army providing world security isn't necessarily preferable.

Well, it's a good thing I am not calling for that.

some traditions are good ideas. those should be kept.

Like what?

Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.

Who gives a shit about dead people and their traditions? Not this guy.

anarcho-capitalism is quite gay.

Anarcho-capitalism is a paradox.

That doesn't mean it was codified in the Constitution which means it's not a federal function.

The 10th Amendment clearly states that if it isn't spelled out in the Constitution as a federal power it is something the states or people have the right to do. Education and Housing and Urban Development are not functions of the federal government.

Don't you think if a suit against the Federal Government involving itself in public education could be mounted on the claim it is Unconstitutional it would have happened by now?

”Marjorie Taylor Greene Uses Declaration of Independence to Defend Violent Capitol Riot”

“Republicans have long been trying to thread the needle of defending the Jan. 6 rally to protest the 2020 election results while trying to wash their hands of any culpability for the violent riot at the Capitol that followed. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) isn’t splitting hairs. During an appearance on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast on Tuesday, Greene cited the Declaration of Independence to defend the actual insurrection, the one in which hundreds of Trump supporters broke into the Capitol, resulting in five deaths and dozens of injuries.”

“Jan. 6 was just a riot,” Greene said, implying the violent attempt to overthrow American democracy paled in significance to the lies of BlueAnon and the media, which she said would do anything to cause her to be killed. Never mind the actual lies about the 2020 election results that led to the storming of the Capitol that put the lives of her colleagues in danger on Jan. 6.”

“If you think about what our Declaration of Independence says, it says to overthrow tyrants,” Greene continued in defense of the riot.”

Amazing how quickly they throw around such as the Declaration of Independence like it was a bumper sticker cliche. They were just showing their independence busting up the Capitol and threatening Congress members and the nation’s VP, nothing to see here

You got to love the way she quickly pivots to put the blame on the media, the “BlueAnon,” whatever the f*ck that is

And the MAGA Militia swallows it all eagerly

It is a question laced in irony coming from a dishonest leftist hack who thought that the burning and looting conducted by BLM protestors was mostly peaceful.

I still haven't seen a coherent response for how this could be called treason or an insurrection. But that is the divisive, stupid rhetoric the left is willing to bloviate in a desperate bid to consolidate autocratic political power.

The right to petition our government is definitely in the Constitution. Isn't it called the "People's house?" Don't they "represent" all of us?

The protestors, for the most part, were rightfully protesting their views. Until the police started treating them like terrorists, it was, for all intents and purposes, peaceful and a patriotic act. The only people killed that day were UNARMED protestors.

So that brings us to the question, why is it that the Democratic Party of Lying Jackasses are trying to make this into something way bigger than that? To prevent Democracy? To consolidate power? To shut down the free speech rights of those they disagree with?

I think we know why this fairly trivial event is still being dragged through the media mud. It's more of their Fascistic desire to define their opponents in dishonest ways to trivialize their rights.
:palm:
