Mayor Julian Castro, left, who will be the convention keynote speaker, and his twin brother, Joaquin Castro, are interviewed at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Former Bush adviser Mark McKinnon was quoted as saying that Castro "has a very good chance of becoming the first Hispanic president of the United States."

Hispanics have become a coveted voting group.

Obama carried that group with 67 percent of the vote, compared to John McCain's 31 percent.

How do bigots view Hispanics?

"We were offended to find a person from Mexico working in America."

I've known of the Castro's for years. Both are outstanding. Wouldn't it be cool if they ran as Prez/VP together???

Rightwingers probably think they're Fidel's sons, or something.

"Castro is still a local officeholder. Compare that to the long list of nationally prominent Republican Latinos: Florida senator Marco Rubio; Republican Latino governors Susana Martinez of New Mexico and Brian Sandoval of Nevada; and Ted Cruz, a Latino Republican in Texas who is favored Tuesday to win a GOP runoff for a U.S. Senate seat. (The runoff winner also would be favored in the general election.)

There are no Latino Democratic governors, and just one senator, New Jersey’s Robert Menendez, who is 58. Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Los Angeles), 54, is a member of the House Democratic Caucus. Even in California, a state with some prominent Latino local elected officials, few Democrats have made a national name for themselves.
"

:tongout:
Seems like democrats have more of a problem with electing Latino's than Republicans do.
