Math is also only a superficial relation, much like Newtonian mechanics covers gross physics at a macro level while not being all that applicable at the quantum levels or even the 'super-macro' levels. So far it only covers 4 dimensions, and there is no accurate guess on how many dimensions there are yet. String theory is pretty bad as a explanation.
