Does the media or members of Congress read whats going on in here?

Ornot,
The data mining is now done with computers, keying in on certain names, phrases, etc and filtered for human consumption. they systems they use can read the entire library of congress in a few seconds.

Damo,
I was not really referring to you but figure there are lots of people sending him emails so he has all his material furnished free.

Doesn't really matter. See, there still has to be a human being to react to the information. Computers don't make decisions. Sure, the computer can weed through an enormous amount of data very quickly but the fundamental problem of data mining still remains. In fact, the computer can actually make things worse if it's programming isn't effective.

Eschelon is pretty effective.

Very effective , systems will grab emails, voice, ets with the "triggers" in them and do some analysis and refer it to humans. If only humans much would be missed, since it would be impossible for them to monitor the entire net for data and voice info.

A long time ago, I wrote an e-mail to Rush Limbaugh (yeah I know), the next day I actually heard him, word for word, take credit for my thought. I have never sent him another thing.

HAHAHAHAHA, I belive it!

have posted a thought early in the morning only to find that exact same thought being discussed on an afternoon or evening political talk show

I don't think any prominent political operatives are reading this, or SRs board.

Honestly, I think there's sort of a subconcious collective awareness and lexicon that permeates political junkie communities such as ours. Things that you or I post that we thing are "original thoughts", may be subconcious expressions of something we read or heard earlier -- on cspan, on cable, or on blogs.

Honestly, I think a lot of the "orginal thoughts" I post, are actually loosely based on months and years of reading the writings of analysts that are far smarter than me. Much of my views on the Iraq conflict are shaped by experts like Juan Cole. And I'm sure Juan Cole's writings indirectly permeate much of the "original postings" I make on Iraq.

I absolutely agree with you on collective awareness ... and I did take that into consideration before this posting.
I dont believe we are regularly being monitored here.., but I do believe we are being scanned over along with all the other politcal forums .... digging for samplings.
Just as you may borrow from Juan Cole ... he or his staff members may visit boards like this and read people like you and borrow thoughts for future columns.
