For him, absolutely nothing changes. He can still respond to whatever post he feels like responding to. Nothing will suddenly stop him from doing so.
What changes is that you, IF and only IF you actually put him on ignore, will no longer receive notifications that he has "reacted to" and/or "responded to" a post of yours.
IOW, it's (in this regard) more or less an improvement of the notification system. A welcome change!

You can't claim that your argument is both very important and unimportant at the same time. If your argument is as important as you insist then you will answer clarification questions. If you will not answer clarification questions then your argument is unimportant.
