Does your city have a problem fixing potholes?

We don't.

Here is just another great example how Alaskans are responding after last Friday’s earthquake! The off-ramp at International Airport Road and Minnesota Boulevard in Anchorage was reopened early this morning, complete with new asphalt.

Isn't Alaska some kind of Socialist State with all the Citizens getting a check from the Government?

(You should be ashamed of yourself, Anonymoose. Promoting 'socialism' to all the Rednecks here in the lower 48)

No state income tax. No sales tax in Anchorage. That's not socialism.

"The amazing true socialist miracle of the Alaska Permanent Fund"
"The Alaska Permanent Fund is a state-owned investment fund established using oil revenues. It has, since 1982, paid out an annual dividend to every man, woman, and child living in Alaska. In 2015, with oil prices high, the dividend totaled $2,072 per person, or $8,288 for a family of four. By 2017, it had been cut down to $1,100 due to money being diverted to other purposes; in cheaper gas years, it can dip into the $800 to $900 range."

Norway has something similar but their fund doesn't go directly back to it's citizens like AK's PFD does. Their gubmint decides for them how it gets divvied out. Guess Norwegians are too stupid to know what to do with the money and need gubmint to decide for them.
Of course there's many Alaskans that are too stupid as well, just that the AK gubmint allows them wallow in it.

This 'socialism' is a problem, Thank God you were smart enough to send the money back and refuse to participate.

We don't.

That's no pothole though. That's what we call a complete structural failure.:whoa: Unlike a simple pothole, you can imagine the folks there swarming the Capital if they didn't fix that one. Also that would cost more money not being fixed in just a short time, then it does fixing it quickly.

I live in Michigan, and we have some of the worst roads around, thanks to the lakes, and the constant freezing, and thawing. They fixed a road completely a few years back, and it's pretty rough again. No matter how many times you fix them, they just deteriorate to fast.

I donate all my PFD and more every yr., I don't send it back. I think we got about $1000 last yr and my charitable contributions were about $3000. Wifey does all the household and bidness bookkeeping. I'll check with her and give you the exact amount if you're curious.

No thanks. I was just sure you sent the money back to the State. It's just shocking to me that you would accept that money. Does this make you a full fledged Card carrying Communist now?

Pretty much. But a rayciss one.

That's quite the impressive speed bump there. Where I live they're good about fixing potholes but we also get sinkholes and those can take a while to fix.
I've driven in every State East of the Mississippi and all the States bordering the west bank of the Mississippi and Not one of those States comes close to having roads as bad as Indiana's.

That's because they build the road beds too shallow and they're using cheap assed asphalt instead of concrete formulated to withstand freeze thaw and though I do agree that like of all of michigan their roads suck too....but they don't suck as bad as Indiana roads.

No....and I do believe he's good friends with a flying squirrel.

Oh they use concrete in places as well, and it doesn't fair that much better. Most of the highways are concrete, but only a few of the off roads are. Weirdly the road that's held the test of time, is the old brick portion. Not the smoothest ride, but It doesn't get the potholes, or cracks. If I'm not mistaken though. As you leave Michigan traveling on 75, it changes to asphalt rather then the concrete, once you get into Ohio.

In the old neighborhoods of Toledo the brick streets layed in the Depression are still in better shape then the pothole filled asphalt.
