Among the canceled expenses:

- $74M for “inclusive justice” in Colombia
- $79M for “primary literacy” in Kenya
- $37M for “female empowerment” in Colombia
- $8M to “reduce LGBTQI+ stigma” in Lesotho
- $3.3M for “being LGBTQI in the Caribbean”
- $25K for “Vegan Local Climate Action Innovation” in Zambia.
Americans are struggling, yet Washington was sending millions abroad for activist pet projects.

Immediately, organizations including the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico and others started fact-checking and found that the list was riddled with errors. Earlier on Tuesday, The New York Times reported that DOGE has deleted all of the five biggest savings on that original list, quietly. The errors range from simple miscalculations to outright misrepresentations of government contracts. And yet, despite backtracking on its initial figures, DOGE now claims it has saved $65 billion (up from $55 billion a few days ago) —without any clear explanation of how it reached that number."

In our meeting today, @elonmusk clarified that @DOGE personnel have no authority to fire federal workers or cancel federal contracts or payments. Rather, they make recommendations to department heads and other executive-branch personnel who have such authority. Those most inclined to demagogue @DOGE are attributing to @DOGE authority it does not have.
