A week or two ago I heard that he didn't grant pardons to the big players closest to him because he wasn't allowed to pardon himself.

The DOJ and the Jan 6 Committee know that. If they waited for trump's bogus claims of privilege to wind their way to the Supreme Court, it would take years for simple testimony to come out.

So for now they'll work around the edges. In the criminal trials, they'll deal with that

I have a feeling he lifted the non-existent "executive privilege" thing regarding Bannon in the hopes that Bannon would refute (in the eyes of the Cult anyways) everything damaging the other witnesses have revealed so far. Too bad his interview will be behind closed doors.

There are stories that Bannon made the whole thing up and Trump denies saying any such thing. Typical stuff in the Trump mob.

Everyone knows that there is no E.P in this case. Bannon/trump tried to make a public spectacle of the hearings, but it didn't work.

Not sure what Bannon hoped to accomplish? If he lies under oath, he'll be in more trouble than he is now.

Wrong. They stated on some things he plead the fifth and others he talked. It will be a massive nothing burger.

The most important thing we are watching now is the further erosion and destruction of the Constitution's separation of powers. But since when did Democrats or leftists give a shit about this country and its Constitution, right? ;)
