your board wouldn't make it onto any news... it is OLD news that predates this member's arrival here. I know of no one other than me that this member has harmed, and I certainly have no desire to go anywhere out of my way to do anyone - even him - any harm.

Like I said... I have NOT posted any personal information about this member. He himself has agreed with that.

He is just a drama queen (in every sense of the word) and the fact that you would condone and support his version of events is disappointing.

My two cents for what it's worth.

It's an issue because the vast majority of heterosexual folk do not want homosexuality to be treated as an equal, normal existence. Our society for the longest has had it's sexual parameters set and reinforced for some time....men dominating the ideals of what constitutes sexuality as displayed to the general public. Which is why the emphasis of sexuality has been placed upon women.

During the last 30 years of so, you've had Madison Ave. exploit the gay lifestyle as merely a story line and shock value to sell movies, TV shows and products. That, however is slowly changing with gay characters being taken a little more seriously in movie dramas and with gay themed feature news shows on cable and PBS/NPR. Openly gay individuals that once only thrived in the arts and creative venues of economic employment are ever so slightly branching out into mainstream job market.

But gay sex has not been given the full equality as straight sex in our movies, TV, advertising or the job market.....and that is the crux of the military. The military has been a bastion of male dominance, which by Federal law had to relinquish some of that dominance to minority males, and even a little more (but far less) to women. Sex, however, is basic and primal....and the very idea that a gay man/woman may feel comfortable enough to hit on a fellow soldier, or show up at an officers event with their life partner is NOT going to sit well....the attitude being "when they can have children like straight people can, then I'll treat them as equals".

Now, the REAL interesting part of all this is when there's a DRAFT. When that happens, the whole legal aspects shift.
