I listen to Murray less after he turned up completely wrong about the ME and also Ukraine.....nobody is right about everything but being wrong about two massive subjects at the same time is a problem.
VDH is another one that I used to listen to a lot, but dont currently, for the reason that he as well is wrong about massive things.

He sounds much like Simon Cowell. (Yes I know they are both brits, but his voice sounds like Simon Cowell...)

They both went through the English public aka private school system. Cowell attended a prep school and then went to a boarding school, Murray went to a private day school. They both speak a form of what is known as received pronunciation, which probably explains why they sound similar.
If you close your eyes and ever watched American Idol you would think Simon Cowell was giving you a history lesson. It isn't just diction, it is the fact that their voices are very similar.
