To convict them of what? Pulling them out of Iraq where they are in the position to hurt someone (or actually, it might be afghanistan that he's in), is not convicting anyone .

After the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch "investigations" which you I'm sure also gave the "benefit of the doubt to" I don't have any faith whatsoever in these liars. Once someone lies to me, I no longer believe them. Now, I know that's "anti-American" but I'm just funny that way. And there is no way I would want to see anyone in this guy's way until this "investigation" plays out. I wouldn't want to be in an isolated situation with him until the investigation was over, and since I wouldn't I don't feel that it's ok to put Iraqis or Afghanis in that situation. That's another way that I'm peculiar.

However, taken in context of sarcastic remark the comment could be viewed entirely differently. "Not even the army is denying" is rubbish, the Army has said that it is investigating. So far, they came out with the truth on Tillman, and on Jessica.... So, "giving them the benefit of the doubt" so far has worked out well.

The schadenfruede comes from, "See she's no good, her son did this!"

And yes, I prefer to wait to find out more information before trashing anybody. I always will.

All I have done is said that I personally don't know what was on his account and will await more information.

Damo, ask the Tillman family if it "worked out" because they don't feel that it did. When someone lies to you and then is forced to admit the truth to you two years later because of all of the conflicting facts, this is not something that "worked out".

I'm not willing to risk lives on this guy's word that "he was being sarcastic". I mean, that's a good try that "the media" btw, has already provided him with, but it doesn't put my mind at ease.

This isn't about Dr. Laura, and the only reason this case got media attention is because this guy is her son. Why do you think the Army closed down MySpace Damo? Because of this one guy? Yeah right. There have been stories for years, in those "crazy liberal blogs" about things soldiers were posting on there. But they must have all been made up and that's why the Army shut it down.

Wake up Damo. In Vietnam, guys did one tour and enough of them came back f'd up and committed atrocities while they were over there. You have guys now, doing two, three and FOUR frigging tours. Recent polling of the troops themselves say that 60% of our troops admit to supporting torture. Then we're going to reintegrate these severly mentally disturbed men and women back into society, while trying to allow as few permanent PTSD cases as possible because that could cost big bucks, if we ever really certified all of the ones who will be certifiable.

Wake up Damo, just wake up.

No, but that's what is there like the 2,000 pound elephant. If I am questioning the troops, then I cannot be supporting the troops, and if I don't support the troops that is not only anti-american, but it makes God very unhappy too.

If you start asking questions, like, you know if 60 % of our troops will admit to supporting torture (that's the kind of thing don't forget that some are going to keep to themselves), we might have a problem here. Or, you know, someone doing 3 and 4 tours, that could be creating a human being, well, first you broke them down, then you recreated them, anyway, that could be creating a human being that might be a problem human being. We might have some trouble reintegrating them into society, oh and also, what might they be up to over there on their 3rd tour? Or, hmmm, you know these rape statistics of our female solidiers are worrisome. Why are so many of our male soldiers rapists? And is it really possible that only the high profile rapes of the indigeneous population where they got a little too carried away and murdered the girl's entire family and then set fire to her after the rape, are representative of actual rape statistics of Iraqi and Afghani women? If they'll rape our own soldiers what are they doing to those woman? And what are we going to do with these rapists when they come back here?

If I support the troops by supporting a female soldier's right not to be raped by her male commrades, then I become problematic. YOu will never see a real troop-supporter and super-patriot like Battlebourne worrying over the rape of the female soldier. You might think that supporting them would also be supporting the troops, but it isn't.

If you start asking these questions, and a hundred other ones, then you don't support the troops, believe me.
