What does, "from your lips to God's ear" mean, and what is its origin?

It means "May what you have described come to pass." The idea is that you speak, God listens, God makes the thing happen. I don't know how old this expression is or where it began.

Understand now BB? or do you have bats in the belfry?

Hopefully Dunkin is just a flash in the pan.

God listens, and makes things happen, that has to be very conflicting at times...pitting one of his creations against another and deciding which one is right. He must make mistakes, too, because George Bush became President and my friend Margaret died!

And...?

Are you saying your friend 'Margarete' is suffering in a worse place...I am confused...I trust God...after all we mortals only have a average mortal life span of say 80 years...we all die eventually...some sooner some later...so who really suffers the most?..Those who go before or after...just food for thought!

No...don't believe in hell, and don't want to serve a god that would put you there for eternity for a life span of 80 years!

You trust God, not me, spit in one hand and pray in the other and see which one fills up first!

Much prayer for Margaret was offered and as a faithful servant of god who was one of the best people I have ever met in my short life, she suffered horribly before she finally died. Now why would any god do that to one of his most loyal creations, just doesn't jive with me!

Thats okay.............

Even though you are a doubter God sees your pain...not to worry you will be healed soon...look at what is going on in your sorry life...then watch for the miracle!:)

It seems he offers comfort from his belief system. Why is that a "holier than thou" attitude?

And my mother who has been the purest most devout Christians all her life got Dymensia.
She never smoked or drank, cussed, always helped others, etc....
Ate healthy foods, was not over weight, etc...

The Problem of Pain by CS Lewis does a fair job of defending an all loving all knowing god with pain suffered by people here on gods earth. You should read it if you haven't. I am an Atheist and still find the book interesting

I have never cared much for CS Lewis's writings.

Many have written may books about why bad things happen to good people.

to simplify it. Excrement occurs. A diety is not involved.

I believe that as well but for those in the house that have a relationship with the Great I AM, but have a hard time wrestling with pain and god's love they should read Lewis.
