Dunn trial begins in Florida

So, at least 1, likely more, jurors found this guy guilty on 3 counts of attempted murder, but not guilty on murder for the one guy he did kill. This is illogical. But I know what happened. And yep, it's about race.

Exactly. If they found him not guilty on the first four charges, why the hell would they be deadlocked on the murder charger? that's just stupid. That's not what is happening. He's been found guilty. But one or two, maybe three, white people don't want to put him away for life and balked at murder. You can claim I'm doing a disservice all you want, but wait Mott, you'll see.. :)
We'll see until that time I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I actually agreed with the Zimmerman verdict. It was unfortunate as I think he was guilty as hell but the evidence for that simply wasn't there to surpass the reasonable doubt threshold.

This case is significantly different. Having aid that, I've lived and worked all over the south and rural Midwest and have no illusions as to how entrenched and viral racism is there.

He was found guilty of 4 of the 5 counts, the jury deadlocked on whether it was first degree murder, which is reasonable considering he shot into a van that resulted in the murder.

Doesnt sound consistent with first degree as I understand it and a first degree conviction in fla can carry the death sentence.
I think your putting to much into the split verdict just yet.

We will see...they're not done yet. As I said, they could be deliberating about Murder 1/2 vs Manslaughter.

I think the evidence in this case more clearly points to Dunn being guilty of Murder 2. Manslaughter doesn't make sense. This wasn't some culpable act. He intended to harm someone. Murder 1 is difficult because it's difficult to establish premeditation, where as Murder 2 seems more likely cause it appears he was in a rage, which would meet the deprived mind criteria. If they do find him guilty of the main charge against him I think it would be for Murder 2.

I tend to agree. I think a verdict for Murder 2 fits more with Dunn's actions than either Murder 1 or Manslaughter, that is if self defense was not justified.

Well the news is in. Guilty of attempted murder, hung jury on murder. Good. At the very least the scumbag will be going to prison for a long time.

In this case Dunn has been convicted of a crime with these aggravating circumstances. He employed a gun in the commission of a crime. He fired the gun in the commission of a crime and he killed someone with a gun. That means under Florida's 10-20-life law he should receive a sentence of 25 to life.

Silence! Do not contradict the Darlak, or you will be exterminated!

If that was meant as a petty attempt to bring attention to a mispel, I know quite well its you're or you are, its much simpler to type your and its easy to just breeze past the 're

Nope. The jury was free to convict on 2nd or 3rd degree, and even manslaughter, according to the news reports I have read. So the premeditation excuse doesn't float.

But I like to watch even liberals, nothing personal to you or yoda, tapdancing as fast as they can around race.

Sorry, it played a roll.

NY Times says Murder 2, murder 3, and manslaughter are automatically included. They didn't have to vote 1st degree. I am not a lawyer and I know news reports can be wrong, so if I find out different I will say okay. As things stand, nope. That wasn't the problem.

BTW he can be retried for murder, he wasn't found not guilty, so we'll see. Also, three counts of attempted murder the judge will hopefully put him away for what amounts to life anyway. But this isn't cool to me anyway. I believe my read is correct, and we all are just voicing opinions. Mine makes sense to me. A lot of sense.

Have yet to see a plausable theory on why he's guilty of 3 counts of attempted murder, but not guilty on any degree of murder for the guy he actually hit? If you take murder 1 out of it, anyone got anything?

No shit. It was race, pure and simple, just like the Zimmerman/Martin trial. We'll see how it plays when a retired white cop shoots a white man who throws popcorn at him. But so far when I white male shoots a black male it is always justified in Florida!
