He was handed a crisis of extreme urgency, perhaps even a once-in-a-century event. He totally blew it and turned it into a political football. It is fair to say that he cost the lives of thousands of Americans.

A true leader would have addressed the nation in a sober but hopeful fashion, citing experts and urging citizens to listen to their advice. And he/she would have set an example by wearing a mask in public, being shown maintaining social distancing, and being shown receiving the vaccine when available.

You would think that we'd have learned from that disaster. We didn't. We shall pay.
