Good thing the govt. was there in her time of need, to enable her to eventually open a small business.

Has someone on the right proposed that cities not have public transportation anymore, or states to not have colleges? Because it sounds like you think Republicans are opposed to those things, and frankly, I've never heard a Republican oppose either one.

Your rhetoric also indicates you believe Republicans don't care about helping people in need, and that is also untrue. We've been helping people in need for over 70 years, and we aren't going to stop anytime soon.

The problem is, the way you want to "help" is by borrowing money we don't have to fund special interest lobbyists and pay off Obama's political contributors. You want to raid Medicare and then claim Republicans want to destroy it because they want to put the money you stole back into it and make the program solvent. You want to hang on to an unworkable solution to health care, at any cost, and you simply don't care that it will result in less availability, less access, and poorer quality health care for all people. You want to soak the job creators with more taxation, when this will only further deplete the tax revenues and cost us more jobs. None of this is going to help people, it's going to hurt people. It's already hurting millions, and will hurt millions more if Obama is reelected.

What exactly does the 'we built that' banner mean at the convention?

EVERY speaker (except for McCain, the senile warmonger) referenced the lie that Romney is putting forth. Obama reminded those who think the private sector has the answer to all of our societal needs, that many things the govt. provides have helped those who built successful businesses.
