EU unemployment hits new high showing austerity fails

I will post this link again, because I think graphs are much easier to grasp than actual numbers.

It might be helpful if people defined what it is they consider austerity. Looking at these charts, I don't see what I would consider "massive spending cuts". Now, I realize that to a liberal if they don't get a spending increase that they want it equates to a "massive spending cut". But, in the real world where the rest of us have to live, this is not so.

Dude, look at the scale on that first fucking chart and look at Greece's spending.

I like using actual figures because you can deceive people with charts by, for example, obscuring an almost 10% cut in spending by jacking up the scale on the x-axis so it looks like a little blip even though it is a massive and severe cut.

Look at this fucking thing:

Trust me I know how charts can be misleading, but it is also misleading to just use two data points like you did. So spare me your feigned indignation.

There is nothing wrong with the scale they used. All you need to do is look at the trend of spending from 2002 to 2008 and ask yourself is that sustainable? It obviously isn't.

Now answer my question, should the Germans just keep handing money over to people who will never pay it back? And yes they are living life on the hog. Take a look at their welfare benefits and it is no wonder their economy is falling apart. Unfortunately Greece can't debase its currency like the US can so its situation is more dire

Um, how is it misleading to point to 2008 to the present to demonstrate that there has been austerity in Greece over the recent past?

The scale is shit. It goes from 0 to 10 times peak Greek spending.

The German government handed money over to the Greek government to hand over to German banks who held Greek debt. The Greek people got nothing but austerity and their economy has fallen apart becuase of it.

Greece is one of the most corrupt countries in the world on a par with somewhere like Columbia. It is disgusting that they were ever let into the Euro in the first place.

so, to summarize what we have learned so far.....unemployment in the EU is up, likely do to the fact they have not imposed austerity measures.......

so the austerity the EU is doing is NOT austere enough for the right here?

They call is austerity in name only I guess.

where is your proof that what YOU would be willing to call austerity would work as you claim it would?
The reason for austerity is not job creation, it's to pay debts.
Debts caused by excess spending on massive welfare programmes.
