The whole notion that Europe is struggling because of oppressive 'austerity' measures is nothing more than a fable. One told by former economists (now political hacks) like Paul Krugman. Then parroted by lemmings like Dung.

In reality, the spend spend spend crowd keeps right on spending and for some reason they can't figure out why it is that they have debt problems.

"National budgets are NOT decreasing their spending, they are increasing it," the EU says, noting that in 2011, 23 of the 27 nations in the EU increased spending. This year, 24 of 27 will do so.

That's it?

the old 'messenger is right wing junket' tactic. nice one, dung. well played.

I haven't the time or inclination to take that op-ed seriously enough to debunk it with the facts. It amazes me that someone with a mote of intelligence would actually argue that austerity in Europe is a liberal myth and would actually buy into this editorial. It's mind-boggling really.

Also, too, there's a lot of information available in the world and one needs to develop a convenient means of sifting through it all. One of the most convenient means is to figure out who is generally full of shit and then to simply disregard information from that source altogether. After the IBD editorial board declared that Stpehn Hawking wouldn't stand a chance under the National Health System as it would regard his life as worthless, I made that call on this particular source. Of course, if you prefer your sources of information to lie to you, you can continue enjoying the IBD, but don't expect me to take you seriously.

and there you go... yet another one of Dungs default 'attack the source'. I provided the actual spending data on the second link and instead of addressing it, Dung goes off on a rant about the IBD and how evil it is.

the facts... spending has increased in most EU nations since 2008. It is an absolute myth that they have been decreasing spending. But dung can't handle that. So he attacks IBD.

So dung... don't expect anyone to take you seriously, you clearly lack the honesty to actually address the issue.

I addressed it elsewhere. It's incomplete given that there is no 2011 data while the data available shows the austerity implemented in the PIIGS from 2009 to 2010. So . . . yeah, you're full of it.

See above. Also see any news piece published in the past year about the EU.

It's been addressed. That you ignore the obvious isn't my problem and, really, if you actually believe what you are saying I couldn't care less whether you take me seriously. I don't really value the opinions of dumbasses.

No, you haven't addressed it Dung. There haven't been massive spending cuts. Again they are all up from prior to the crisis. You are using 2009 as a base year because everyone pumped 'stimulus' money into the system.

I don't really give a fargle whether you believe there has been austerity in Europe. You are free to pretend otherwise and I have less than no interest in explaining why you are wrong.

lmao... it is because you cannot explain it. The data says you are wrong.

Actually, the data says I'm right, particularly when you take cyclical considerations into account. But, again, feel free to take the contrarian position on European austerity. I'm sure lots of people will be impressed.

No, it does not. It is not even close to saying that. You simply parroting that it does without actually providing the data you are saying supports you is quite hilarious.

I love how the guy who is going steady with the Republican talking point du jour is accusing me of "parroting." That's awesome.
