A working class family can live without owning more than one cell phone in a household. At least one is needed, because Mom and Dad work, and their employer needs to be able to call them, to ask them to come on-shift early today, because Jose or Rita called out sick. But they don't need two cell phones, or one for each of the kids either.
They have to buy Milk, but they don't have to buy fruit juice or soda.
They have to have a PC, for the kids to do some homework assignments, and to file their taxes, apply for licenses and pay bills. But they do NOT need to have an X-box or play-station.
They have to watch the weather report, to see how to dress the kids for school, but they don't need Cable TV, or NetFlex, or Disney+
They need to eat, but they don't really need to eat from Dion's a pizza and a family salad, on Sally's Birthday. They can eat just re-fried beans on a corn tortilla, with a bit of fake cheese, made mostly from hydrogenated-corn-oil... which will cause intestinal cancer by age 50... but they're working class, and easily replaced by the next wave of illegals.
The point is, there are things most middle class have now, that are actually optional. When the Rich-Elite who owns all the regional Dairy Farms, gets taxed 20% more, he just passes the cost on to the consumer.
But the other shoe to drop, is that as the Milk-Guy passes on the cost, the family stops Cable, Netflex, the second, third and forth phone, the X-Box subscription, the night eating out on a birthday... they ONLY buy the absolute essentials.
So all those employers, Netflix, Dion's all start laying off people. And as each gets RIF'd, the household becomes another living on the Government Dole.
So the whole damn thing feeds on itself, and instead of increasing the total tax generated, the attempt at "20% tax on the Rich" actually lowers revenue, as it destroys the Middle Class.
Soon, there is an "Only the absolute Essentials Economy". The fruit juice farmer lays off its workers. The Soda Bottler lays off its workers. Dion's lays off its workers. Disney lays off its workers. All because milk is a Essential for growing kids, and now costs $14 a Gallon.
All of the laid off workers become households getting their Milk from a Government Program, which is so inefficient, that to the few remaining tax payers, each gallon of milk given to the "Poor" costs $42 per gallon.
So now they need even MORE Taxes on the Rich. But those Rich, working at Dion's Corp, and the Fruit Farm Corp, and Disney+ HQ, are not so Rich anymore, so they are paying allot less in Taxes.
Everyone is Miserable, including those who used be the Wealthy Elite CEOs who worked at the Corp Management level at Netflix, Dion's, Disney+ and X-box.
The middle class is gone. You have the Hyper-Rich Elites, and the masses living on the Dole. Only Essential Economic Activity remains, such as producing Milk to sell to the Government for Redistribution.
In the attempt to "Tax the Rich", the Leftie idiots just killed all economic activity in the society!
