Expanded background checks....

Which is bullshit to begin with.

1) 60% of guns are sold in stores... not gun shows... as that states
2) But 50-60% of guns sold at gun shows are sold by those holding FFL's, which means another 20% goes through background checks right there. So that takes us up to 80%.

3) Seven states require EVERYONE to get a background check at a gun show... so that adds to the total. Those states are

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Illinois
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
So CA, NY and IL... three of the most populous states in the country (1,3,5) are included. New Jersey only has one gun show and it doesn't allow guns to be sold there. So add number 11 in population to the list.

4) Another dozen or so states require a background on handguns, but not long guns.... so even more to the total.

You are probably pushing close to 85-90%. And that is being conservative with the numbers.

Okay, so even if you are correct and its only 10%-15%.... its still a loophole... Correct?

I see guns in garage sales up here. It isn't a huge market, but it is a market that allows anyone to obtain a gun fairly easily!

In my state, even so called private sales go through a licensed gun dealer.....you sell your gun, take it go a dealer where the buyer can pick up his pruchase
after following appropriate procedures.....otherwise, the transaction is against the law.

Really, when I pity someone I don't yell obscenities at them. In fact, Dostoevsky wrote a pretty famous novel exploring the lines between love and pity. Not hate and pity.

When I pity someone I yell obscenities at them, but I use my Mr. T voice so it's cool.

1) One cannot yell on a message board... once again you try to inject emotion into words on your computer screen. Do you talk to your computer? Does it talk back?

2) Calling Jarod a moron/idiot/retard... is a statement of fact. He has proven time and again this to be the case.

3) Yes, I do pity such pathetic people... especially the ones that actually think they are clever.

I'm telling you what you're feeling is not pity.

Well, I've proposed two much better solutions that don't interfere with other peoples rights. Open the NICS to non-FFLs, or put a stamp on the state ID.

Good suggestions, I was never implying ending privates sales, just want private sellers to know who they sell to, your ideas would work.

Alaska now requires all persons buying alcohol to have ID, people legally can't buy alcohol have a red stamp on their ID. It doesn't prevent these people from getting alcohol, but it makes the process a lot harder.

I like the ID idea.

Good point, you dont call someone you pity a retard or idiot.... You do that to someone you hate.
