Finnally some oversight

They are having it investigated by the DOJ.

What did the republican congress do about it?

They had years to act on it.

That's after the guy came forward and admitted it was him so of course they will have him investigated now.

This happened sometime in '05 and who knows when it was found out about. Democrats took over in '07 so it was not 'years' that the Republicans had.

I don't mean to rain on your parade however so please have at it.

You definitely win the dramatic award. It was $10 million. Congress pisses away billions so it's not surprising $10 million doesn't make the top of the agenda. And no one ran roughshod over the constitution. The dude broke the law and needs to be (and will be) punished. I hope he sees jail time.

But the partisan dramatics aren't needed here.

ca

unfortunately both parties indulge in pork, we were promised that it would stop, but will it

maybe with both a dem congress and pres it may, but i will not hold my breath

McCain is about the only guy who fights against pork DQ. Otherwise the Reps and Dems are the same, they will give rhetoric to stopping and then go right on doing it. They get re-elected by bringing home the pork. They are not going to cut themselves off.

For months, no lawmaker stepped forward to say who had made the change.

"Somewhere along the way, something changed. Nobody knows for sure who did what," Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who fought Young's bridge project three years ago, said during yesterday's debate.

Young's office accepted responsibility yesterday for the change, insisting that campaign contributions were not the motive. Rather, presentations made by Florida Gulf Coast University officials and the developers proved the case for the project, aides said.

Exactly, and now the dude is going to pay the penalty. The Dems or Reps didn't catch him he turned himself in.

you don't have to support him but no one fights pork harder than he does. It is definitely one of his positives.

They have been trying to figure out for months who and how it got into the bill , He just fessed up yesterday.

The Man just wrote something into a bill to get 10 million to someone. Alaska mad a stink about the money because they wanted to use it but for something else. That is how it came to light YEARS ago fella. The Rs just ignored the fact that it was an illegal add on to a bil. The Dems had to start looking into it along with all the ohter crap the rs did not investigate while in office. They have beene trying for months to figure out where it came from.

The guy fessed up because it was becoming clear there was going to be an investigation and he was dicked.

So he earmarked the money in 2005 but really used the money "years ago" before that? Ok, that makes a lot of sense. I'll take your word.

It was a 2005 budget. they do those in 2004. When the state of Alaska gets their money in 2005 and goes to use it they find out that they have to spend this 10 mil they got on a overpass they dont fucking wnat or need(it was favor to some guy Young f=got a fundraiser payed by) They talk to the hill and the hill goes what fucking 10 mil ...hey how did that get into the bill?

Now you have 2008 which is years later that Dems having to look into something that YET AGAIN the R did nothing about. They had the worst oversight record in history I believe only starting 3 investigations during their entire time at the helm. They either tied or beat the famous do nothing congress in the past.

Desh, the whole issue is the guy change the earmark after the fact. That happened in 2005. The bill was signed in 2005. It's not until after that that it was found out the guy did this illegal activity.

However it is Friday, happy hour time so we should all be in a good mood. So therefore I will tell you Republicans suck Desh. It is all there fault. As you say they are too blame for everything. We need all Democratics in control in '09. We will finally see real changes.

So Dillo my sweet does this make you proud of your party?

Jeez Desh, you act like a) the Democrats have never done anything wrong and b) that somehow a Republican who see's this is going to want to switch to the Democrat Party as a result.

Except for extreme partisans no one wants to see "their party" act unethical or do illegal things. No Republican on this board has said they are glad this happened. I told you I want the guy in jail. But it's like its not enough for you. You partisan side is taking over.
